Help charging problems

It could be the phone that's the problem. However, getting the piece fixed that connects to the charger is a bit expensive. I had the same issue when I had a blackberry. Long story short I ended up with my prevail.

The charging port is probably damaged. Did you try a different cord? If the same thing happens with a different cord/charger then you're looking at a damaged port rather than a damaged charge cord.
When did you buy it? Is it still under warranty?
If it is under warranty then hope the charge port gets damaged to the point that it doesn't charge at all and call Samsung to claim warranty. If it is not under warranty any longer then be very careful with it.
While you can still use the usb port, root the device if you haven't already. Once you have CWM on it you can set it back to stock if you need to but if you're without CWM and you want to put a custom rom on it then you'll be having a very hard time.
