Charging S3 with Rocketfish Micro USB Wall Charger?

I used Rocketfish Mirco USB Wall Charger and some websites say it is universal for all USB/Droid phones, where as the best buy said select HTC and Motorola phones (however the S3 wasn't out then, and they only commented about the wall charger that isn't micro usb not being compatible) I charged it with this simply because its a usb charger and I didn't have the original at hand.

While charging it was blinking green (the phone was about to die). It charged fully and there seems to be nothing wrong. I know there could be a potential for it to blow up/overheat or cause some problems but is this true with this product?

Id say it wont damage it man. If anything it might charge slower. Does it tell u what output current it has? As far as i know, the voltage is the same in anything with a USB or Micro Usb connector and only the current varies
 
Charger specs are okay ... charging might be slow, as funkylogik said.

Slow charging causes no harm, it's just slow ;) , takes twice the time.
You'd look at Settings, Power, Battery status ... "Charging USB" means slow charging and "Charging AC" means rapid charging.

Nice tip right there to see if your rapid or slow charging lol i never noticed that
 
Thanks everyone for being so helpful, now if someone could answer my other thread about text messages taking up to a range from 6-30 seconds to send.
 
The sales person was just stating what was on the Rocketfish web site. It should charge faster than the stock as it states it puts out 2.1 amps and the Stock charger only puts out 1 amp.

Yes, the phone/tablet limits the amount of amperage needed.
So the charger's ability of amperage could be bigger than the phone's/tablet's needing, but should not less.

And how does the phone/tablet know that it can charge in "AC" mode?
It "looks" for jumpered data pins :)
Most phone producers follows the recommendation of USB standards for USB chargers ... they jump the data pins of their modified chargers for to bring the phone in 'AC charging' mode, means rapid charging with high amperage.

With generic chargers this modificaton with jumpered pins is rare feature to find.
I hope this Rocketfish charger has it.

My Kindle Fire HD charger is at 5v and I never had an issue using it for my S3. In fact, it charges super fast! Will be getting a seperate Amazon charger for the S3 so I won't have to keep sharing the one I have! ;)
