Help Charging the Charge

I know there is likely a thread for this, but do you realize how hard it is to locate a thread "charging the charge" on this forum? LOL! They should have named this phone something other than the normal issue when it comes to batteries-holding a charge! I digress...

What's the best way to condition the Charge's battery?

Also, can I or should I leave the phone on to charge it?

Thanks friends!:D

Is conditioning even necessary?
No. If you charge the phone up and run it all the way down a couple of times it will help the phone get a more accurate battery reading but it will not condition it. Li ion batteries do not retain memory so there is no conditioning needed.

twistedlim is correct the LIon batteries do not require conditioning and are pretty good, but I did notice better battery life after a week of charging and discharging the battery. It may also be the customization I did to the phone too.

Li-Ion batteries as already stated, do not have a memory nor is there any kind of conditioning necessary. However, what new phones need to to is to teach Android what a full charge is, which is why manufacturers recommend charging 12-24 hours the first time. Many users see the phone say full and think they are done.

I always recommend with a new phone, let the battery run down to nothing. If you get a low power warning, ignore it and keep using the phone until it shuts itself off. Then, plug in the phone using the A/C adapter, not the USB cable. Let it charge uninterrupted to full. When it says fully charged, unplug the phone and turn it on, if it was off. Wait five minutes and plug it back into the charger and then shut the phone off while still plugged in. Let it charge for at least another hour, regardless if it says the charge is full. Then reboot the phone.

Be advised, you shouldn't do this more than once or twice as deep discharges can damage the battery. You battery life will be greatly extended if you perform intermittent charges rather than deep cycles.

I deal with a lot of different types of batteries in the electronics field. The idea of discharging a battery until its dead came from Nicad type batteries. With the Li-Ion type, you can actually damage the cells by fully discharging. Li-Ions need to be charged when the software indicates the need. New Li-Ions do need a few cycles to reach their full potential. But never fully discharge a Li-Ion battery.

Ditto, this is what I usually do, ususally 2 fully discharge cycles so the device can learn what FULL and EMPTY is then I just bump charge it. Possibly every few months I may do a deep discharge/recharge cycle.
