Help Charging when abroad?

So was away over the weekend and had my TF-101 with me along with the charger.

Tried charging the TF-101 via a standard plug converter (TF-101 has a standard UK three pin, while I was in a country that had two pin). Tried all combinations (with keyboard attached, just the keyboard and just the tablet) but it wasn't showing as charging.

Now this could be a bit of a problem. Is this a known issue? Is there a way round it, short of getting a separate charger for when visiting foreign countries? Would it just drip charge if I had left it?

Also, do any of these battery juice / power packs that are around in the market work with the TF-101 or are we just limited to a wall charger?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

You would have to find a USB 3.0 charger online, regular (USB 2) don't push enough power.

Check the pins inside the charger (where the USB cord plugs in). For whatever reason they're not as strong as they should be and you might have to CAREFULLY bend them out a little bit. (I have and so have many others around here.)

Did you take the 3pin charger that came with your transformer or did you use another charger that takes the usb lead? If the latter, as I did, it won' t charge as apparently it needs around 15 volts, not the 7 volts delivered by phone or ipad chargers.

Thanks guys.

When I was abroad I used the original charger, attached to the original cable. This was then plugged into a travel converter (three pin to European style two pin) and I got no charge indication. However I tried the converter at home today (three pin to three pin) and it was able to charge. Might be a problem with my converter.

Were you using a converter (like a contraption with a fuse built in) from a straight adaptor that plugs into the foreign outlet with the US outlet on the other side? I have had bad results with converters and now only use straight adaptors when traveling and have no issues charging any electronics

Sorry sorry, my bad it was an adaptor (as in no fuse inside it), it just allows me to plug my three pin (UK) plug into a two pin (Asian) outlet.

I've used my TF while traveling in Australia and had no issue using just an adapter. I would say the adapter you used is suspect. Did you try other outlets and other items to charge with the adapter?

I get the impression its the adapter. The missus was charging her phone with it and it worked no problems.
