Help Charging with USB

Is charging the phone with the USB cable supposed to take forever? It seems to significantly raise the temperature of the battery as well as opposed to when I am wall charging. I like the convenience of not having to be by an outlet to charge my phone, but it doesn't seem worth it when it takes most of the day to get fully charged, if not longer.

Is this normal?

yes it will always take longer. i only charge via usb when I'm tethering to my laptop while on the road. i have found that when using my bolt it will only maintain its current charge level instead of actually charging.

Mine is slow also and gets hot. I need a wall charger for work and travel. Amazon has them for $11.
