Check for update?

Ok, so after so much trouble trying to upgrade to ICS, I have finally managed it using a different laptop. Everything went smoothly, phone booted normally and everything seems to function well. I have just one question.. how will I be able to check for future updates? The option has gone with the update. My Dad has the samsung note which he upgraded to ICS, and the option is still there on his. Anyone else had this at all?

Did you update to ICS using the Samsung PC Suite, Kies. In which case the update option will be under, Settings > About phone > Software update...

Yes, updated through Kies. But when I go to settings>about phone, there is no "software update" on the list. I have gone through all the menus and there isnt anything there.

My Android version is 4.0.4 if that is any use to anyone
