Ended up using the LG update Tool and it was disconnected so it left me at the "Download Is In Progress" screen. I went to the MetroPCS store here to get a replacement and it is not available to be sent/shipped so I have to wait until it is available to to be sent/shipped. The problem with this is that theywill not give me a temporary phone until then because they have NO idea when the device will be available to me. Theres problem number 1. And problem number 2 is the fact that they say in order for them to order the replacement when it becomes available my account HAS to be paid up and active so basically I cant have a temporary phone and I have to pay my phone bill which literally doesnt have aworking phone on it until the Esteem is available for shipment which is ridiculous due to the fact that they dont know when the phone will be available for shipment. I bougt it on January 27th and am now without a phone and must pay my phone bill without being able to use one for an unknown amount of time to get this replacement and they even sais that they are unsure if it will end up being available again.
 
no doubt metropcs cust service sucks contact lg asap let em know you were updating your phone and got stuck and its been 5 hours and nothing happens dont tell em you disconnected or nothing you had it plugged in for 5 hours and nothing happened but this i did this with a bricked optimus m had to send it to them but they fixed it no charge your phone is under warranty from lg

This is why I just skipped Metro totally and sent mine directly to LG today to get repaired (vibrate issues). Didn't feel like going round and round with them then having to pay a hundred bucks. I was of course also under the impression that to get a replacement I had to pay the $99 deductible...wondering if I made the right choice. Only cost 14 bucks for shipping out to LG and it only went up the freeway.
 
Well, apparently I knew exactly what I was doing when it came down to recovering from this exact problem BUT I was just skipping the most obvious step LoLLoL I am up and running now. Debating whether to stay with ZVB and running ICK ZBV or upgrading to ZVC and running THAT ICK. I like the theme of that one too LoL but idk to be honest. Will be sticking with ZVB for the moment though. Thanks to budde2 for making it the obvious step that I missed LoL
 
Im new to the forum, and it seems to be a very helpful place....... I too was updating my esteem and it froze, (the computer) and now my esteem is stuck on the download in progress screen, EPAYNE how did you get it past this screen?
 
To be honest I knew how to do this on my own and tried and tried and tried BUT I was actually only doing the most obvious step of all wrong LoL. I wasn't navigating to the proper folder when choosing which .tot to install LoL because I was too anxious and upset but Budde2 kind of helped me calm down and actually focus more on exactly what I was doing incorrectly here but I will be glad help you get up and running but I dont think I will post the procedure on here as Budde wants to go ahead and post this. He may not have really told me how to do it TBH but I CAN thank him. I am going to be the first one to thank him for slowing me down to get a little more concentrated to realize what I am doing incorrectly and bring to light the stupid STUPID mistake I was making LoL... He Said... "Well, are you going to navigate to where the tot is?" HaHa I then said, "Ummm, are you serious!? I have been skipping this OBVIOUS step for days!"

P.S.: Choosing which tot to install wont work without actually being in the correct folder HaHa who would've thought!? LoL

Metro is a lil beep sometimes. Did you go to an authorized dealer or corporate? I say you go through LG directly yourself. This kind of makes me scared to update to ZVD though v.v

No I went to a warranty center but it's alright now because I have fixed it myself after days of frustration because of clumsy, anxious and frustrated carelessness of trying to fix it.

Went into the corporate store today, " I woke up and my phone was like this" is what was used! lol.... They repeatedly asked me if anyone tried to update it, ofcourse I said no. Long story short, the phone was dead and Metro ordered me another phone, PHONE IS ON BACKORDER and should take about a week to get here!

Thanks for the Offer, but hopefully I'll have a replacement in about a week! The guy said he couldnt factory reset it or anything, basically it was trash. We'll post up if/when METRO calls me to pick up the phone!

FALSE! I have it running perfectly fine now so there are no problems. The way I did it is the same way they UPDATE the phone but I used Emergency Mode which is what "Download Is In Progress" is. This is considered Emergency Mode for LG devices now-a-days.

I still have the phone, If you dont mind sharing what you did, I'd really appreciate it! I'm new to this whole "rooting and customizing" phone thing, so please excuse me if I dont understand :D

Check out the thread I made about this problem that I had. The solution is at the bottom of the thread.
Edit: the cliff notes is don't bother talking to the corp store or customer service number. I did that every day for about 2 months. Just post in detail in their Facebook page about the BS that your going through.

Deductible? Did you get insurance? I figure, after payments and deductibles, you bought a new phone anyway... I mean, unless it breaks as soon as you buy it, they'll discount it by 100 bucks in a few months and before you know it the thing is worth 150 and it would have been cheaper just to buy a new one or another model.

If they ask you if you want to buy insurance on a product, don't buy it. If it's worth half a sh*t, you won't need insurance.

VERY BIG THANK YOU! Metropcs said my phone was trash, and Mr EPAYNE123 Got me back up and running! :) Dont thnk I've ever been apart of a forum as helpful as this one!

Appreciate it, LoL that 3 hour call was worth making sure you had your phine up and running. PNut and I help out as much as we can around here LoL almost no matter what the cost. Also, Redhook I could do that and see if i can tell them i lost it to see if i can get a free Connect without having to send in my Esteem LoL
 
be fair warned if you send the phone back to lg for service ,the 4g card has to be removed,if not they will destroy it,repair your phone and send it back
knowing you cannot get another 4g card.if you do taka it out metro can and will void the warranty.belive me i have 15 hours on the phone with lg,metro, the bbb and the fcc and still don't have a card or working esteem.i posted on another site all the problems getting this taken care of and still no answers.LG blames metro , metro blames lg.oh and according to lg when they get the phone all cosmetics are replaced,so if you purchased a screen protector,kiss it goodby because they also throw that away and put on a new screen and according to them if it comes in with a back and/or a battery they toss that also.we would have saved alot of trouble had we let metro send it back and then if it came back without the card they own it.good luck.

I always get insurance for the first month or two, then cancel it.
Although between the deductible and having to wait until they snail mail(high chance store out of stock)...and pretty good chance of getting a worse model replacement stock(when out of stock over there too), doesn't really make much sense...

I appreciate it VERY much. I actually did end up fixing it. I was just missing the most obvious step inside of the wHole process lol. Once we Figured out what my anxiety was doing then the problem was fixed about six seconds later lol.

I do appreciate the kind words there and am excited to be known as one of the knowledgeable ones again. Haven't dealt the welcome since the incredible forums haha. I also do work with mike as a moderator over at Android invasion too so we can get nasty over there
