Help checking for updates, stuck in an endless loop

With this talk of an upcoming SW release I tried the "check for updates" feature. On my phone it doesn't return anything (such as no updates avail) its just remains in the checking mode in an endless loop. Am I missing something, a setting, don't know. Should it either return with a valid SW release, or a statement that none was found?

Sometimes it just gets stuck, just turn it off.

Rebooted, cycled pwr n its fine now. Returned a no sw update avail. By the way as per some of my prev posts, cycling pwr affects batt. Iam 6 hours off the charger n still at 90%. Wo the pwr cycle i go to 90% within the first hour
