checking phone country

Hi guys

I just got my self a new unlocked desire hd from a UK website (clove technology). It's awesome such an improvement from my old hero! But I have a problem.

I'm using it with my Spanish Orange simple card which has always worked fine with my hero. However now with my desire I'm not able to see paid apps on the Android msrket.

From what I have read this could be due to the phone country settings or firmware
According to the phone there are no updates available so I'm guessing it has something to do with the phone country?

Is there any way of finding this out?
Thanks.

i forgot to mention.

When i first turned the phone one and went to the market i had the usual old style market. The second time i tried it took a while to load and now i have a totally different (green style) market...and im not seeing the paid apps filter.

Just an idle thought... do you have to be signed in with a valid Google account for these to show up? I'm wondering whether Google only shows paid apps if it knows that you have a Google acount through which you have the ability to pay? This is just a wild guess but it was the first thing I thought of when I read your post!

yep, my account is valid. As i said, i had it all working on my hero.

In fact the weird thing is that although i dont see the list of paid apps, if i search for one (for example the game abduction), it appears and it actually allows me to purchase it!..weird huh?

paid apps should ideally be visible if google is showing paid apps in ur area.

seems wierd..u can try doing a factory reset once and then set up the google account again and see if that works

been there done that :(

i dont understand..the sim card is spanish and worked fine in my hero (although it was not unlocked..) now with the same sim card on my unlocked DHD its not working.

Well it is, as i said, i can search and purchase paid apps...i just cant see them listed :| so bizzare..
