CheckROM RevoHD v7 (ICS)

checkrom thread reopened on XDA :)

will be very interested to see what they have to say about hawkers valid point about the bricking bug some peeps got on LQ5. read about it on XDA and it looks nasty (the bug, not the forum) ;)

its out. any little piggies wanna test it? gonna wait until confirmation on XDA that the kernel is bug free.

edit: ahh. stock kernel included :-/

Yup its out now to the mainstream.

My advice to anyone would be to hang fire on this one.
LQ5 has camera, video and bluetooth problems, not to mention the cataclysmic brick potential issue.
Personally I'm going to wait until there is a compatible Siyah kernel, and the issues I just mentioned are fixed. This may mean a new firmware, or perhaps a kernel update. Unknown as yet.

People on here had a go at me scaremongering about this potential brick bug when I started a thread on it, but its bitten a few people up the jaxxy now 4.0.4 has emerged, one of which sadly is our No. 1 Dev, Sale. :(

no harm in warning peeps of the dangers of gettin a bricked phone. must have been bad enough for checkrom to remove their own kernel from v7 and replace it with a stock one. im def gonna sit this one out, neat lite works fine, wait for the dust to settle and let the die hards flash it first ;)

I've already been through at least 8 roms in the past 10 days and I'm settling with Portal Rom 1.4 until I get omega working or the dust settles on checkrom v7.

Don't want to brick my phone since I have it how I like it now.

I can either be stuck on splash screen with omegav15 or have a bricked or not fully functioning phone on checkromv7..... so I'll wait.

I can't believe the number of people on the CheckROM XDA thread who are now complaining of bricked phones! And they say ignorance is bliss! :argh:

I also can't believe the numbers flashing this ROM not only considering the possibility of this brick bug, but also because of:
1. No CWM
2. No Bluetooth
3. Camera/video not working properly

Talk about die-hard CheckROM fans! :secruity:

It makes you wonder, through all the furore directed at the CheckROM devs during its months of no-show on the ICS front, how they then release an LQ5 base 2 days after a leaked release. I shouldn't be reading between there lines here should I? :hmmmm:

i couldn`t believe when i read, that v7 is out, but due to "bricking" concerns i`m gonna hold my horses...
Thx for warning Hawk! :)

Strange, of all build options why use LQ5? There suddenly seems an unseemly haste about this one after such an ironically long wait. Nice of them to still bother but no thanks. I already know several ways to brick-up and as the bug is in that kernel set I'll steer clear.

Notice that the CheckROM V7 XDA thread has now been closed by the dev's following yesterday's debacle. Not because of the bricking issue (you can still download it), but because the devs didn't like all the "ill mannered" reactions to it!

These CheckROM devs seemed to have gotten far too big for their boots. Their attitude really does leave something to be desired!

I'm going to wait for an official release of 4.04 before trying CheckRom. I can understand why they did this, so that when the next build is released they can be ahead of the pack but will any dev want to touch this right now?

Cheers simes6600!

That's it then for CheckRom Revolution v7, ICS!

Straight from the horse's, (developer's), mouth...

"No more ROM development for SGS2"

(Their ROM... their choice... no comment!)

Its a shame they messed up, going loose large fan base. That tgread was a fun read,.

Will wait and see what Ironass and Hawker choose as their new Rom of choice.

Only one rom in contention for me richie and that's Neat ROM.

Been on it for almost 2 months now with no intentions of looking elsewhere.

I can't believe people are developing roms bundled with the unsafe kernels. It's not even hardbrick with these it's potentially "superbrick" not even jtag can recover it at the moment its a full motherboard replacement.
