CheckROM V6 and Kernels

Hello All

I've recently flashed CheckROM V6 and really liking it. . .I'm now looking into kernels and improving the battery life.

Just need some advice really . . . . After I flash a kernel on to CheckROM is there a way to go back to the CheckROM kernel with losing everything?

Which Kernel is a good stable one to start with?
My mine thing here is battery really . . .

You won't go wrong with either neak or siyah. Siyah has long been the most favoured, recently overtaken by neak 1.3.4. The jury's still out on the latest siyah 2.6.13. But either will serve you will. Personally am finding neak amazing.

So If I do flash neak and decide on another ,. . . . will I be able to get back to the CheckROM kernel easy without losing anything?? I know what I'm doing to a degree but just looking into making most of battery . . .
P.S do you know if there more themes for CheckROM other then KItchenPro app?

You can flash new kernels any time and will never loose check rom or any data. Check rom comes with stock chain fire kernel (which is very good) and can by reflashed any time from kitchen. There are other kernels around not on the kitchen although all the "big names"are in the kitchen. There are some older popular ones that aren't there, but to be honest there's no benefit from searching these out. The newer ones have been tweaked to perfection!

And don't forget to find hawkers kernel cleaning script. The thread will be easy to find further down. Flash this before flashing a new kernel to ensure you get rid of all your current kernels files, then your new kernel will definitely work as intended.

Your next essential step will be to get voltage control so you can customise settings to balance your phone with battery vs performance. But read a bit about how it works first!

There are other themes, there's a whole thread on the matter on xda. Best to start looking there. the other way to get a great custom look is to use the different launchers on the market. Go launcher is fab and free, 3d shell is even better but costs a bit ;)
 
Just don't forget to make a Nandroid backup first, in the event that something does go wrong when flashing the new kernel. This has saved me a few times.
