This one looks kind of like one of our 5 year olds; Max
But she's not a rooster, I don't know why she looks so much like one.

This one looks a lot like one of ours named Flap, her voice sounds really scratchy and old all the time, even though she's only 3, and as old as the others who don't have this problem. She also kind of pecks us sometimes

We once had a rooster a very long time ago, when the 5 year olds were just about 2 months old, the rooster was their age too by the way. One day we had to go to church and we couldn't get their door shut, no matter how hard my dad tried, he couldn't. We closed it enough to where we thought it was gonna be fine. When we got back, tons of feathers and violence were all over the ground, 2 of the chickens were hiding under bushes. The other 2 were still in the coop, eating food. My dad said he saw a chicken hawk really close to us, so it was probably him. Poor Boof the rooster. 😞

They have to eat, too.

We live along a raptor (hawks, eagles, vultures, owls, kites, falcons, etc) migratory path and every spring and fall I find that sort of mayhem all over the place. Lots of bird feathers and rabbit fur generally. Of course, the foxes get their fair share too.

It's the circle of life.

It's sad, I took some more pictures today 😝

I don't know why Herby's pupils are so small, she is extremely tame, and I don't know if she has a vision problem or something, but she CAN see, she maybe just can't that well, but I love her because she's just a lil chicken

In my experience chickens have very good eyesight. They are certainly better at spotting movement in our house than a human standing in the same place would be - though I'm sure they are just watching in the hope that we'll bring them treats ;)

(Yes, I have some as well. Just a couple of little bantams at the moment, will be adding to the flock this Spring).

I know they're good at telling movement for sure because one time I watched this chicken documentary, and they tried using a taxidermied fox on a roller, but the chickens didn't get fooled.

Our chickens don't mind snow at all, they seem to just think it's normal. They even eat it sometimes 😛

If you are asking that of me, it's been moved.

I think @Sluggers is talking about ht e thread @Unforgiven created when he moved all the KFC posts out of this thread. @Sluggers while you may not like it, we don't censor people based on opinion, lifestyle, culture or what they may or may not eat. @Unforgiven was kind enough to remove those posts from this thread but we don't have the authority to simply delete them because one member doesn't like the topic.

I wasn't asking to delete them, but I just wish I couldn't see the thread or something
