Hello. I'm doing a study abroad in China and I'm having some problems setting a SIM card I bought today. Hopefully somebody can tell me what's wrong and if there is a work around or if I just wasted $40.
So I have an HTC One M8 through Verizon Wireless. Before heading to China, I read up on my phone and I thought it would work with China Unicom. According to Verizon, the phone is unlocked and "Global Ready". Even though it's a CDMA phone, it has USM/UMTS options. Today, while in China, I purchased a China Unicom SIM card with a 3G plan. With the new SIM card, I can receive/send texts and I can make calls, but I can't access any mobile data networks. Does anyone know if there is a way to fix this or is it something inherent with the phone that won't allow it to use mobile data in China?
