Chrome To Phone: Anybody Using it?

I've used it a few times just to play around with it. Mostly in Firefox though as I don't typically use Chrome except for testing web sites.

I'm sure I'll find a use for it but would like to see the same thing for IE since that is my default browser.

I have it and love it. Makes it real easy to send web pages and maps from you computer to your EVO. It's just cool seeing it in action.

Yes, with the add on in Firefox !! it's great....My girlfriend was cooking and I sent a page with a recipe to the EVO and it worked flawlessly and the kickstand came in handy too !! :)

Yeah, I would think it would be extremely useful when you need information for on the road, like a map or any details pertaining to something you are doing. Sweet!

Now THAT's something that would be really awesome. Someone is at home on the main computer or laptop, and you're out somewhere but they need to send you a link or something, BAM....you got it!

This, only used it once to send directions to my phone after researching places to hit up in NYC on the computer. Worked instantly, much faster than you would expect given that its gotta go from the internet to Google and then from Google to my phone on a cellular network.

I think devs are really going to come up with some cool stuff for the cloud to device APIs.

I don't have Froyo yet, but I've been using this feature for awhile with an app called LinkPush. It's a very nice feature.

Well I just tried it, the Firefox version. Is it called Send to my Phone?

Well when I tried it it didnt work, it told me i needed the Chrome to Phone .apk. Did my 2.2 update NOT include it?

Well anyways here's a link for it.

chrometophone-android.apk - chrometophone - Chrome to Phone Extension (Android App) v1.6 Pre-release [Old link] - Project Hosting on Google Code

EDIT: Just did it for the first time, haha that was pretty dam fast.

It's not part of Android 2.2, it's just made possible by 2.2. Anyone that wants to use it needs to install the APK. The same APK works for both Chrome and Firefox so you don't have to do it twice.

I have it and have played around with it also.
Not sure that I would use it very often, but hey, it's there if I ever need it, and that is what I like the most about it ;)

This is actually one of the features I am really excited about Froyo because of. I think it's brilliant, I can't count how many times I have wanted to send something to my phone and had to resort to pasting it into an email. I wish it would also push bookmarks, seems like the infrastructure is in place for it already.

this feature to transfer links from computers to the evo sounds interesting... now i can pretend i am jack bauer and my wife can pretend she is chloe as she uploads info to my phone (such as recipes when i am at the grocery store).

Ok, I have installed the app on my phone but I can't find "Chrome to Phone" in the Google Chrome extensions. Anyone have a link? Please and thank you. :)

You'll have to install the Chrome Extension onto your PC. I use the Google Chrome browser and apparently you can use it with Firefox. Once installed, you'll see the android phone next to the address bar. That's how you send the link/map/number to the phone.

So to recap, .apk to phone and extension to browser. All set after that.

Thank you! I use Chrome too and when I couldn't find it by searching Chrome to Phone, as was stated in the instructions on the phone, I knew I missed something.

Question, how long is it taking you guys to receive the information on your phone from the time you send it from the computer? Mine is a bit irregular, like 10 minutes sometimes, and if I send a bunch some will come almost immediately and some not at all (at least not yet).

Wondering if I messed up some settings

I've tried it from both Firefox and Chrome and they were almost instant.

Ok, I uninstalled the APK and then reinstalled it and they are now really fast. Thanks.

Is everyone using the stock browser or Dolphin?
