i found this fascinating.

we do not have these periodic cicadas like other parts of the US.....so i found that the emergence of these broods every 13 years or so just amazing. this year there are two broods emerging.....thats billions of these insects coming out at once!!!! crazy!!!!!!

As I mentioned, last time they hatched in Illinois, you would see clouds of them flying together like locust. My wife always gets a couple to land on her and she freaks out 🤣
