Clambook for Evo V's MHL port

Much like the Motorola Photon/Bionic/Atrix lapdock, I use it for travels instead of lugging the laptop. This one looks much nicer and most likely would work with the EVo LTE, Galaxy S3, Note, etc.

Just wondering how much it will be.

Oh and title fixed.

Thanks for fixing the title... It does look nice and I'm definitely planning to buy if the price is right. There was some speculation already online that the price will be around $199.

I have been waiting for this exact thing to be announced!

The only question I have and I didn't see anything on it, was screen size. That would be the one possible deal breaker.

Edit:
Looks like it will be about 15inch. Bleh.

Hopefully, there'll be a variety in sizes, to accommodate differing preferences/needs.

A netbook size, I've found, to be ideal for me,w/the BIONIC LAPDOCK & LAPDOCK 100 falling into that category.

This would also be a great tablet alternative, especially if you were desiring one w/3G-4G, but, didn't want to add to the monthly expenses w/another data plan.

Offer a 10in or 7in (preferably 7) that can connect via wire (or bluetooth) for $200 and they won't be able to take my money fast enough.

In fact, I'd buy two, maybe 3.
Then we just need someone to hack out a mod to let Windows and Linux servers connect to these instead of a KVM.

My laptop is fairly functional already. Is there any reason why it [the laptop] can't do this without the need for *another* device?

Your laptop can definitely do everything and more than this can do, but for me, the ultimate killer device would allow me to use my phone as my primary system for email, web browsing, documents, image editing, etc. I can do most of that now with my Evo V, but the phone and screen are too small to really be productive with it. However, being able to connect it to an easy-to-carry full screen and keyboard like the Clambook would do the trick. This would allow me to take care of 99% of my productivity tasks without ever cracking open my laptop.

Eventually, I feel that all technology will head in this direction. The Motorola Atrix was a good first step, but was proprietary and couldn't connect to other devices. Same with the Asus Padfone. The nice thing about the Clambook is that it will be compatible with any Android phone with an MHL port and also with the iPhone, so it finally brings this capability to everyone regardless of their phone choice.

If one prefers to not use a 3rd party application to tether their phone to a laptop, this is an excellent alternative, especially if you're in a location w/o WI-FI access.

I imagine you'd also be able to take calls via BLUETOOTH & stay connected to the internet, just as one can w/any 4G phone, & w/MOTOROLA WEBTOP-ENABLED phones, take calls on-screen w/speakerphone. Very Cool!

I look at it this way...
You have all your stuff on your phone, regardless of where you are or doing. This gives you a "laptop" with all of that data, for easier use when you need it without carrying a full/more delicate/expensive laptop

If you upgrade your phone, you technically upgrade the "laptop".
If you break the "laptop" you only have the one part to fix.
It's a cheap and convenient system.

I predicted this sort of thing a while ago and was just waiting for it.
Make one that is just a tablet screen and you now have a tablet with your whole phone in it. Add Intel wireless display and you could use a bluetooth mouse and keyboard and use it as a desktop. Hook it to your TV and play games on it or stream movies.

All of the peripherals are cheap. The driving force behind it all is an item you already have, your phone. Go to work, set it on your desk and get to work, need to head to another cubicle, grab the tablet. Traveling? Take the "laptop". Lunch, or going about your day, take the just phone. At home, hook it to your TV or monitor and play games or movies. In all cases, you always have your data, and the rest only serves as an interface.

This is the future if someone gets it right, and this comes pretty close. As phones become more and more powerful, this is the direction we should and will likely be heading (I think). It's rather silly to have your data spread all over and who needs the cloud when it's all in your pocket. Do you really need all these different systems when your phone can handle it?
