Root Cleaning up SD card

After flashing Roms, changing my mind, installing apps, removing them.... you know all the standard stuff :-) I seem to have a lot of left over things that don't appear to be needed. Files from apps long since removed, apk files that I had dropped on the SD and then installed.. is it safe to connect to the pc and just delete those items? or is there an app that one should use that finds stray files left behind? I see things from Cyanogenmod even though I've tried about 4 different roms since that one.. Only January, but I think I need to do a spring cleaning on the ole card.

It's a manual job I'm afraid.

It's fine to connect to windows and delete. If you use Linux, nautilus doesn't perm delete stuff so you end up with no clean space unless you clear trash / lost.Dir or delete them properly. Any tips from hadron appreciated ;)

Thats what I have been doing and I like command line, however its not for everyone. People coming from windows will be used to simply deleting data from the Windows Explorer GUI.

For a while I was like "Oh no I Cannot clear data from my SD cvard using Linux". Then I noticed it was teh same from my smb NAS. Found them in trash, cleaned them out and voila, free space was created...
