Help Clearing data, lose contacts?

I clear my contacts/phone/call log storage every so often to free space on my phone. Doing so removes all my contacts. I do get them back, probably because they are all linked to my gmail account. Do I ever run a risk of losing my contacts permanently by clearing all data files from my call logs/phone/etc....?

I wouldn't think so. Clearing your contact list to free up space serves no purpose if you're merely going to re-add them again when you sync.

The list and such is only a meg or two.
You will gain far more clearing cache.
