Clearing text window

Other than tapping the backspace key repeatedly, is there an easier or better way to clear the text window? If there is a lot of text in the window intentionally or by mistake (like realizing voice text is on too late), the backspace key can be a somewhat tedious method of clearing the window...

try long pressing on the text, "select all" when the pop menu appears, then select backspace.....bam!!!!! deleted

Cool. I was trying to figure out how to reliably get those markers. Long press the text. Thanks.

If you find yourself doing this a lot, many 3rd party keyboard apps allow for swipe to delete. Swiftkey is one of them.
