Root Clearing the Cache

Well-Known Member
When I flashed the first ROM (Beta), I cleared the cache and done a full system wipe. My internal memory had loads spare. When I flashed on Redux 1.2, I only done a factory reset before flashing. My internal memory is now alot lower (about 27mb).

Is it safe to go into Recovery and wipe my Cache, so that when I reboot, the memory should free up?

I know I could do a cache wipte and factory reset then re-flash, but would rather avoid it as it's taken me time to get the phone to how I want it!

Thanks.

/cache is not internal memory that you can use for apps.

When flashing redux, dont forget if you want to move dalvik cache too, you have to flash the dalvik2sd add on.

There are lots of things called cache.

There is:

1) App cache - this can be cleared. It is in /data so it will save space. Cache cleaner apps can do this as can manage applications

2) /cache partition. Used for downloads. This can be wiped via recovery. This partition has nothing to do with how much space you have for apps.

3) Dalvik-cache. Basically settings for the applications within android. These can be moved with most a2sd scripts, some do not move as default (eg redux and DarkTremor). This can be wiped in recovery, but it will rebuild at first boot again. This also lives in /data

Ahhh, wish they'd make this whole thing alot easier by giving them all different names...

Tried searching, where can I get the Dalvik2sd 'add on' to flash?
