Help Clock Question

The clock that can be used (from the Desk Clock) to put the phone into a sort of sleep mode/screensaver (totally black screen with a roving time display) disappears when the actual Screen Timeout kicks in.

Is there anyway to keep this on all the time?

I see that if the charger is plugged in, it does. Seems to me it wouldn't use a lot of battery to keep it going.

If its an slcd screen, the black background is still backlit so would use a fair bit of power. If its amoled those black pixels are actually off so wouldn't use much power
