Help Clock troubles

KillThief

Lurker
When I touch the clock to get into the alarm, world clock, stopwatch, etc., nothing happens. Touching the sun or whatever it may be at the time still brings up the weather, but nothing on the clock. Has anyone else had this problem?

I had that problem last night, I did a search and found out that I would have to do a factory reset to get it working again

Wait on the Factory Reset! A Factory Reset will kill off all data, apps, etc. that you added. If you don't back them up somehow, once you do the Factory Reset, they're gone permanently.

I wrote the following to clear up a problem with the flip clock/weather widget, but it should clear up the problem you report, too.

Try this to clear things up:
From the main home page, hit the Menu button, tap Settings, scroll to Location and tap that. E911 should be checked buy shaded or dimmed. Check VZW Location, Standalone GPS, and Google Location Services. (yes, this does pose some risk of data capture about your location, but if you want the local weather, "ya gotta pay to play" - sux but there it is) Go back to the main home page. Do a long touch on the time/weather widget and drag it to Remove, which will show up in the lower right corner of the screen. Do a reset (hold down the power button to get the Power Options menu, tap Reset and tap Reset in the "really reset?" dialog).

When the DINC2 powers back up and gives you the main home screen, tap on Personalize (the paint palette icon in the lower right corner). Tap Widget and scroll down to Clock. Tap that and choose the weather/flip clock. Ignore that it says London on the clock. Tap Select. You'll get "Select a city", which should show a bar marked "Current location". Tap "Current location" and you'll see "Weather options". "Show full screen animation" will be checked. Tap "Done" at the bottom of the screen. You should now come back to the main home screen, with the clock in place, showing your current location's weather and time. Tap on the time, and you should see "World Clock" showing your current location's name and date, and the local time in a box to the right of the name.

Thanks RBEmerson for the suggestion, unfortunately it didn't work for me, still have a dead clock widget. Guess I'm gonna have to try the factory reset, which sucks.

There are numerous threads on this topic across many Android forums. The Clock App disappears for many users after upgrading to GB, either immediately or after some number of events. A factory reset will restore the clock app BUT only temporarily.

After upgrading to GB my clock app disappeared too. I bit the bullet and did a factory reset and spend the better part of the day reconfiguring my phone to my liking. Soon as I pulled the battery however, the clock app disappeared again.

I've called HTC and they claim to be aware of the problem and told me it will get corrected with a patch of some sort. No idea when.

If you have this problem, I encourage you to call both HTC and Verizon to open a support incident. This may help expedite a solution.

midnight blue that clock/weather widget has a bug in it that doesn't affect everyone thanks i can now stop beating my brains out trying to figure this out i'll call vzw even if they cant fix it just to give them a ticket ill just put a small clock and the Wbug widget on the home screen

Is there any other way to get to the alarm clock? I can deal without the world clock and stop watch, but I need the alarm clock.

The delete, reboot, reinstall solution above did not work for me.

I also need the alarm clock and downloaded/installed AlarmDroid app. I would rather avoid the factory reset if this is the only issue, it takes way too much time to get back to where I started. I hope Verizon has a better solution.

Dang! My first bug on this phone. It stopped working last night and did a reset today. Is it a coincidence that it has happened to us about the same time?

Mysteriously, the Clock app has reappeared in the app drawer and the clock widget functions again on my DINC2! I did update and or install a few apps yesterday which may have triggered a fix perhaps?

CNN (update), GateGuru and Priority Pass

Don't know if this is resolved permanently, something tells me it will only be temporary, but thought I would report this.

I can't frickin believe this. My stock clock/weather app quit working, weather works but no alarm or timer. I tried everything and then foolishly cleared data in HTC sense, Now I've lost everything again, all my apps, just like a factory reset but the damn clock still doesn't work. Fortunately all the downloaded apps are still there, I just have to arrange them.

But the clock still won't go to world time, timer, alarm or stop watch.

This happened to me as well....Luckily since I had a non-HTC phone before my Dinc2 (Fascinate) I had already purchased the Weather and Toggle Widget app that has the flip clock and the same animations that are on the HTC flip clock. I can also launch any app by hitting the clock (for me it launches the Better Alarm Clock app). I can at least use this until they fix the one for HTC. I highly recommend this app and you won't know the difference.....After installation, it will prompt you to download Weather Widget Forcast addon (Free) and that is the same as HTC's forcast screen when you click on the weather under the clock. The skin that is exactly like the HTC one is called, C-H7C. It is no longer on the Market but it is on the web for download. Just search it on your phone then download it and under the settings of the Weather and Toggle Widget, load the skin from there and you're good to go. Good Luck.

"he just moved the h7c themes actually, when you go to 'widget skin wizard' go to 'download skins from external server' there ya go!"

This is from the XDA Developers site. Sorry, I guess I always did it the hard way. If you go to the settings in the Weather and Toggle Widget app, find the widget skin wizard and you can view a gallery of all the skins. Then download the one you like....h7c is there and there is one called iFlat that looks like the HTC one too.

To install the skin, scroll down to the bottom of the settings screen and then click on Select Market Clock Skin. It give you the choice of Load installed Clock Skins or Search Market. Well there is nothing on the Market so click Load installed Clock Skins and if you downloaded and installed a skin from the gallery, it will be there.
