Help Clock Widget (4x1 widget) issues

For quite some time i have issues with the standard 4x1 clock widget. It freezes many times and shows the time and date from for example 2 days ago. Only way i can solve is by removing and re-adding the widget but then after some time it happens again.

My phone is rooted but has no custom rom

Never had a problem with the built in widget but I'm stock and unrooted. Could it be a problem with the ROM that you are using? Even though it is stock there could be bugs.
I've been using Beautiful Widgets because I like the fact I can make the background transparent and download different skins. Never had a problem with it losing time or freezing.
