Root Clockwork mod and Bionic bootstrapper question.

Is it necessary to to have cwm installed along with the bionic boot strapper?

I ask because I never use clm for anything and always do things in bionic bootstrapper recovery mode such as back ups and restores.

Is there any benefits to even intalling/flashing Clockwork mod? Does it somehow work hand in hand with the bionic bootstrapper to enhance it?

I swear, I never go into the clockwork app for anything.
 
clockwork rom manager is pretty much useless on the bionic. Bootstrap uses clockwork recovery when you boot into recovery and you can do anything you need there.

I kinda figured that. :)

I asked because on one of my bionics I did a back up through the bootstrapper on gingerbread before trying an ics leak.

I ran the .232 leak for a few days then went back to 905, rooted and restored my back up. The phone seemed a tad buggy. I don't know if it was because of a cheap sd card or not flashing CWM.

I just did a factory reset and loaded all my apps and settings back from scratch.

By the way, the sd card is a Trancend 2 gig. It was given to me, I only buy Sandisk.
 
Maybe this is a difference of terminology, but I thought the whole purpose of Bionic Bootstrapper was to allow us to flash ClockworkMod Recovery in spite of having a locked bootloader. Other than that, what's the point of having Bionic Bootstrapper installed?

So far, I haven't needed CWM and stopped installing it. I do my back ups and restores in recovery mode, I never use CWM.

Right, but that "recovery mode" you're using is ClockworkMod Recovery. That's what Bionic Bootstrap does: it (1) flashes CWM Recovery, and (2) allows you to boot into CWM Recovery. Not sure what you're referring to as CWM? That's why I said it might just be a terminology difference. But do this, boot into recovery via Bionic Bootstrap and look at the top of the screen -- what does it say?

I know that the bionic boot strapper is clockwork. Instead of downloading the app where you can update roms from the app in my app drawer the only thing I have is the Bionic boot strap. I will post what I have with links below.

I get it now, you're talking about ROM Manager. I used to use that on my OG Droid, but it doesn't even work with the Bionic does it? ROM Manager installs CWM Recovery over the stock recovery. You can't do that with a locked bootloader, which is why we need Bionic Bootstrap to install CWM alongside the stock recovery.

Anyway the answer to your original question is No -- there's no need to have ROM Manager installed on the Bionic, in fact I don't think it even works.

Sorry for the terminology confusion...

I tried using rom manager one time and it didn't work. I just wasn't sure if rom manager enhanced the bionic bootstrap in some way. :)
