I am sure this is somewhere in the forums already . However I was unable to find a straight answer, and got frustrated between google and xda. If I want to root but stay on stock can I use clockworkmod 3.1.0.1 purple ? The video that is posted here says 3.0.2.5 but the link takes me to 3.1.0.1 Thanks a lot

Yes, you can use the OneClick root method, have CWM 3.1.0.1 installed and not have to flash a custom ROM.
Try this video by Qbking77. Follow the steps in the video and you will be rooted but still on your stock ROM.
