Root Clockwork Recovery 'Advanced ' gives black screen

Hi all -

I was trying to do some work with CWR this afternoon and for some reason I get a black screen after selecting any option from the Green Clockwork Recovery screen. I've tried 'apply sdcard:update.zip', 'backup and restore', and 'advanced'. In all cases, I get a black screen and nothing happens. Clockwork version is 2.5.1.0, and I'm running Clean DJ05 and the SuperDark ROM (not that I think either should be applicable).

I've tried reapplying the Clockwork Recovery through ROMManager but it had no effect. Suggestions?

Are you sure you're hitting the back key to apply it and not the home?

oh lord help me.....because I had to use 'Home' to navigate thru the main menu, I used the same button for the Recovery screen.
