Root Clockwork Recovery help

my version is 2.6.0.1

So when I ran unrevoked it worked fine.. however I did not know I was to make a backup of the ROM.. Long story short.. I just installed unrevoked and left it at that A.K.A normal HTC sense Rom and no downloaded flashed ROM's

anyways I had no issues with the phone until yesterday I went to use the camcorder feature on the phone and i pressed the rec button and the phone never recorded.. matter of fact it just hung with just the record button showing and no time elapsed showing.

I rebooted a few times, took out the battery for 30 sec.. still no good..

Anyways Since at it I decided I wanted to finally change ROM's and I went under the Clockworkmod and went to backup.. it backs up until it gets to the data part and it just hangs... I just let my phone sit for 30 min or so and it was still on the same section.. Should I just wipe the phone now?

You could try a wipe, but make sure you do a nandroid backup first, if you haven't already.

Also, make sure you have enough space on your SD card before doing your backups. That can cause hangups like the one you described.

Good luck!

I had 1.2 GB free and it still hung.. I'm about to do a video to show what I mean.. hopefully it will turn out ok..

I also just formatted the SD card so I have 7Gb free

I just installed Amon Ra recovery and I'm going to try again with this instead of the Clockwork Mod since I saw some had issues with it.

That can happen sometimes. If there is corruption of any kind in any of the partitions. I had it happen with /cache one time, where it just sat there. You may have to wipe data. Go ahead and try it with RA, but the last time I heard of this happening to someone, they had to wipe data, unfortunately.

Hmm I might have to do the wipe so far 25 min in it's still saying performing backup with the little dots.. it's almost at the top of the screen now.

Yep, I expected that. The last person I saw this happen to had to wipe data, unfortunately. If you have no other backup, backup what you can with titanium backup.

hmm before I used titanium back up I booted back into a normal phone.. first of all out of a 7GB free on the SD card I now only have 2.92GB free and now my internal phone space is 2.42 MB..

So it must of been doing something.. but I'm going to backup and wipe data.

edit

hmm titanium backup says it does not have root access but I must have root because I flashed Unrevoked on it.

*edit2

I guess it was because I did not have busybox installed.. seems to be fine now.

The nandroid backup likely created a bunch of junk. Go to both /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup and /sdcard/nandroid/(unique-number)/ to see if there are nandroid backup folders for today's date (in GMT) for the backup you tried to create. You'll probably want to delete those, as they are bad backups, now.

Are you saying you only have 2.42 MB of internal storage? That doesn't make any sense.

yeah 2.42Mb internal space.. not sure what happened.. before I started I had like 30 Mb or so. Not sure what happened..

I'd say at this point, if you're planning on backing up your apps with titanium backup, then doing a wipe, go ahead and do that. We could probably figure out why you suddenly have so much less space if you really care at this point.

yep backing up now then going to wipe.

*edit

wipe is done.. I also did the davik and cache.

internal space is back up to 383Mb fresh up from wipe.

Cool. Glad that worked. You should go ahead and try to make a nandroid backup now. I'm fairly confident you should have no issues now.
