Help Clockwork Recovery: Restoring a backup

On Saturday I decided I wanted to put CM7 on my phone. It was already rooted but I figured I'd give a ROM a try. First thing I did was reboot into Clockwork Recovery to make a backup.

However, after some additional poking around, I decided to hold off on CM7. I'm on call for work quite a bit and I need to make sure whatever I put on my phone is very stable.

Today, I saw that all my text messages are gone. Disappeared. If I go into Handcent or the regular Messages there's nothing in either. This made me sad. :(

But then I realized I did a backup on Saturday, and I really haven't done anything between then and now.

So I need to restore this backup. I've never done this before. I imagine I just reboot back into Clockwork Recovery and choose Restore backup and my phone will be like it was Saturday, text messages and all?

I currently have Clockwork Recovery 2.5.1.2 installed. ROM Manager is giving me the option to upgrade to 3.0.0.5. Should I do that or use 2.5.1.2 since that was the version the backup was created on?

Also, anyone know what might make all my text messages disappear?

Should keep 2.5.1.2 and use that to restore.... Your text messages will disappear when you reach the storage limit, not sure what that number is, but "sms backup" in the market may help on future occasions.

The new version of Clockworkmod Recovery only works with certain ROMs (as a number of us found out the hard way).:o Stick to the old one unless you really need to change.

Yeah, my Nook is pretty screwed up right now because of CWR.

Going to try and restore the backup in a few minutes, I hope nothing goes terribly wrong.
