Root clockworkmod & recovery (problems)

Hi all...

So I have a Droid A855 (original) that was fully updated and factory until last night. (so I'm a root noob).

I rooted my phone using "SuperOneClick" with no real problems. I then downloaded and installed the ClockworkMod program again without any real noted problems.

Since then I've been trying to get into the clockworkmod recovery mod, but seem to be having some issues.

Using "Rom Manager (free)" I've downloaded and flashed the recovery program 4 times thus far and each time I can then "reboot into recovery" only once. After that the default Droid recovery app is back and so I have the flash again.

What's more strange is that Rom Manager reports that I have the correct and latest version of the recovery mod installed, but any time I try to manually or "reboot into" recovery mode the default Droid is back and the only way for me to get into is to redownload, reflash and then reboot after that.

Am I doing something wrong?... is there a fix?

Thanks a ton!!
TK.

If I am understanding you correctly there is a fix. I've had this happen also.

Sometimes the CW recovery doesn't 'stick' even after multiple attempts and will revert to stock after restarting.

What worked for me was:
--open ROM Manager and scroll to bottom
--look for 'flash alternate recovery' and do it
--restart
--go back into ROM Manager and 'flash ClockworkMod Recovery' again.
--restart

This should do it. I've never had to repeat this again since.

Nope :( ... that failed to keep the CWM Recovery as well.

Maybe I should post over in the CWM forums... xda or something if I recall.
