I have a samsung captivate, and when trying to flash to new rom, it says E:failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification failed

What causes this, and how do I fix it?

I am having the same problem that you are having. when you go into the recovery menu, do you have the CWM logo or is it the android logo still?

I don't know if this will help but have you made sure you are flashing to v3 of cwm?

I had the same problem a few days ago. I believe you have to upgrade to a new Kernel, 2e or something, maybe 3e. I backed up, downloaded Odin to my PC, restored my phone, upgraded the kernel some how, got Rom Manager and downloaded Fasty 2.5. It has been great ever since.
