Root ClockworkMod update?

So I did a search but nothing came up, nothing that I identified as the solution to my problem, so I apologize in advance if the answer is out there and I didn't catch it by oversight.

I rooted my Inc a while ago, and it's running ClockworkMod Recovery v2.5.1.2. Is there a newer version I should be running? And how do I go about updating?

I am not very well versed on root and such, so pardon my ignorance, and thanks for the help!

That's awesome. I thought that was for flashing the device with a new ROM through ClockworkMod Recovery. I'm not running v3.0.0.8 Thanks!!!

No problem. I'd avoid using rom manager for changing roms. The app is mainly good for updating your recovery and just downloading the rom.

Rom manager worked well when I first root but +1 to this. Learn to flash things manually. Many fewer problems

I happily paid for rom manager but I use it only for backups now.

So should you update your clockworkmod recovery? Or doesn't it really matter? What is the difference between the updated one and the 2.5.1.2 one?

I believe I read earlier versions of rom manager are not compatible with new versions of android. So to download and flash say cyanogen 7, rom manager and or recovery have to be the most current version.

Don't flash anything through rom manager. All other functions are great but flashing roms with rom manager typically yeild problems. Boot into cwm recovery to flash. Wipe everything thrice before a first flash.

I've never had a problem installing ROMs with ROM Manager. I don't flash a lot but have used it at least a dozen times in the past year without a problem. In fact now I'm having problems manually getting into hboot or recovery, I get 5 vibrations and a dead screen whenever I try. So now I'm only able to use ROM Manager to flash ROMs and to do backups and restores anyways.

Are you sure you are pressing volume *down* and NOT *up* when trying to get into hboot?

What happens when you select "reboot into recovery" in rom manager?

ROM Manger works fine no problems boots into recovery. I was getting the 5 vibrates with both the volume - and +. But now I think there is a problem with my volume buttons as now when I press either volume button and power the phone just turns on like I only pushed the power button. Thing is volume buttons work just fine when the phone is on.

Just tried it again to see what would happen and now everything is working normally, booted right into hboot. Definetly something wrong with the volume rocker button.
