Root ClockWorkMod

Ok was finally able to get my phone into fastboot. I have issued fastboot oem unlock and fastboot erase cache both have worked

Did you get into fastboot by wiping out the recovery partition or some other way?

Did fastboot oem unlock wipe everything? Does anything not work on your phone after running that command?

I tried this also just to see what would happen. Did a cat zero of recovery partition and attempted to boot into recovery which got me fastboot.

Tried the following:
Fastboot oem unlock
Fastboot erase cache

Both commands successful. No changes noticed in device. Rebooted into stock rom successfully with no data loss.

Also tried flashing a few of bob's recoveries with

Fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

None of the recoveries would boot and put me in a boot loop. Had to use reset phone option using qpst memory debug app to get out of loops.

instead of building a recovery from source why dont we just port the optimus m+ recovery i have a booting optimus elite i am willing to test

yea im down to try myself if someone walks me through it, and walks me through unbricking if it happens...

I've also already bricked one of these phones. Rooted it just fine, but got greedy and tried to push some sort of Beats Audio thing. That is what bricked the phone. Now that I have used my freebie, I am much more hesitant to throw mine out there for testing. I would donate money for an Elite for a dev though.

Hey, I haven't really been following this, but from what I glanced over it seems like bricking is slightly common. Well, I ran out of money for the phone bill, so since it's not really a phone anymore you guys can use it for this stuff. Just throwing that out there in case you nee another tester.

that sounds like a better idea but the rom would have to be a .tot
That won't happen.
I'm talking with Jcase, the tot file is a very poor solution he says. Very few people can do them, and face it, it's not an easy way to flash. It can be done, but it's bad idea.

His recommendation is to get a phone to him or Koush and let one of them deal with it (as they have time). He says LG has really gone backwards with their firmware in terms of rooting and even in terms of bugs. He isn't too impressed with them or this phone at the moment.

My old recommendation still stands, you guys should take up a collection and get a phone to one of these guys, because from the sound of it, all we are likely to do is keep bricking them. Again, I have a few bucks I can put in, and let's face it, for what these things cost, it wouldn't take but a few dollars from each of us to reach enough to buy one to send off.

Something I suggested at release before root was even achieved. Someone that has been working with one of them get the collection going and I'll toss a few bucks their way (as long as it isn't using paypal).

Hey, I talked to jcase today about either sending him a phone or sending money to his paypal and he could get one. Here is what he said...

"Hayden, I won't accept money for it, nor will I accept a phone. If someone has a phone they want to loadn, I will attempt to port it, depending on my availability it could take several weeks, afterwards I would want to return the phone. I would want it shipped pre-rooted, as I don't own a windows PC to root it with.

But before that, could someone please explain the problem they are having with custom recoveries? Is no one doing it, or what?

Justin

And that's it. I haven't really been following this, so somebody that knows everything that is going on should probably email him at jcase@cunninglogic.com
