Root CM 10.1 Nightlies Discussion

Yeah this was Backup Assistant feature.

Please allow me to barge in here. I am going to run the PWNAGE tool when I am off, finally am sick and tired of stock ROM on my Spectrum.

How do I install the latest stable version of CM 10.1? Do I download it from CM Downloads, or can I get it through CMW when it is installed on my phone?

I've been looking through this thread, but I am TOO tired, and need to get to bed soon for work. Thank you for your help all!!!!!

This is the latest stable version: http://get.cm/get/9ba though personally I always stick with nightlies and find them to be perfectly stable as well. This is the latest nightly: http://get.cm/get/aeV

I'm not sure what you mean by "get it through CMW," unless you mean Rom Manager -- and personally, I've never used Rom Manager to update. My recommendation is to grab whichever zip from get.cm?/device=vs920 and get it on your SD card before you install ClockWorkMod. After you flash it, you'll be able to update it from the phone.

Just flashed the 8/25 nightly, seems to be running well. Video playback works, Youtube works...havent had a chance to check bluetooth or really anything else yet. What other issues have there been with recent builds?

As far as I can tell... none. I haven't had any issues at all since this became an official CM ROM, except for three (I think) times that I flashed and could not boot at all -- but then I simply went into recovery and restored a backup.

That is what I was hoping for. ZZZZZZZZZZZZ (falling asleep) Sorry, lack of sleep confusion. I hoped I could place it on the SD card, and it would be there for flashing after PWNAGE tool completes. Thank you all once again.

Somehow, in my continual sleepwalking state, I keep forgetting about doing a backup FIRST THING after running it. Then, I can always flash that to go back to where I was when I started if something goes wrong. Correct? I hope so.

I'm off the next couple of days, thank GOD. NOW I can play...........

I've read some of the posts here about problems/errors with some of the ROMS being created. You know, I think I could do this. Maybe someday you'll all be flashing MY rom. LOL.

Stranger things have happened.......

OK I couldn't get GPS to do ANYTHING while on stock rom. Ran the PWNAGE tool, fired up GPS essentials, and at present count I have 11 satellites visible. Oh Oh OH its MAGIC...........:adore:

Howdy, thanks again for the advice. I spent part of the day reading posts here, and I decided to download the stable version of CM10.1.2. Is that similar to what you are using? And would you know which version of GAPPS I need to flash with it? It just sounds as if many folks out there are enjoying the CM10 experience, and I thought I would give this one a try for my first rom. :alberteinstein:
P.S. The links you gave me don't work, or my firefox is having an LSD flashback

Just download the latest gaaps for 4.2 :)

The other folks replied with links/info on GAPPS.

Odd that the CM links aren't working, unless it's a security setting -- those are the direct links to the ZIPs.

Here's the list of stables, then, and the latest is at the top: CyanogenMod Downloads

The other iproj services got 10.2 on Monday. I'm on vacation at the beach with no laptop (wife insisted) so it might be a few days before I get vs920 going. My first attempt at editing and building on my phone got to the boot anim and wouldn't enter the ui. I can't diagnose that without a computer...

There is a nice chart with link to proper version of gapps here for each different version of android.

CM 10.1 is based off 4.2.2 so you would want to grab this version.

Good luck! :)

Thank you! I flashed it, and I am now running CM10.1.2. I checked the file on my SD card, and it is the GAPPS you suggested, so everything seems OK. That list is something I can use. Takes the confusion out of which GAPPS to use.

Hello again. Something I noticed running CM10.1.2. When you edit a phone number, and put pauses in it, the first pause works, but any after that lock up the dialing of the phone number. It is as if you are pressing a number on the keypad and holding it.
(I know, it's a minor glitch, but for those of us that dial numbers with many menu choices, it can really tick you off)
Is there a dialer app out there I can use to circumvent this problem? Thanks to all for everything!!!!!!!!
BTW I posted a bug at jira (I think it is called) as suggested in earlier posts.

I think the links are OK, it's probably just me. I'm not using the most up to date computer in the world, that's for sure.

OK installation of CM10.1.2 definitely broke the phone app (inserting pauses in a phone number). I downloaded the catlog app, now I am going to learn how to use it.

When I posted a bug at jira, I noticed that someone else had also posted the same bug. Gonna have to check to see if anything was discovered about the bug. Calling the wife at work is a pain in the rear without it.

I haven't had the video problem in a while now which is good.

Anyone having a problem with certain app having text that is way too small? Two of mine do this and they actually starts normal for a split second when the app is opened but then the text and everything gets really small. Here's a screenshot.

It doesn't look like much but the text and buttons are about half the size they should be, making it extremely difficult to press anything. The other app is the the Ultimate Guitar app which does the same thing. I've run both apps on different phones and they work normally.

Any reason this would be happening?

It lives :D
