Root CM 10.1 Nightlies Discussion

It seems strange that they are still working on 10.1.3 while starting with 10.2. Is there an explanation other than exuberance?
 
Yeah I've been very happy with 10.1.2 and even started managing memory by moving large apps into the rom. But that's a lot of effort amplified with upgrades. So it looks like we should embrace 10.2, don't look back :-)

In a more serious vein..........

I've flashed CM10.1.2, CM10.1.3, CM10.1-20130922NIGHTLY, and they all run with a continual flashing message stating "sorry your keyboard has stopped OK". Anyone get that one? Am I doing something wrong?

Hey there TDM. never spoken to you before.

I wanted to try this rom, but I didn't see anywhere what it is based on here in the thread, so I installed what I thought was the correct gapps, but I am not sure which version I should use. I want to use the 10.3 stable version; (just recently released) Which gapps do I need for that, please?
Thanks for answering, I appreciate it. I am no longer a supernoob, but every once in a while I revert. Maybe it's Alzheimers or something

See I told you so, you guys answered me earlier in this thread as to which version to use. I think I used the most current gapps, when I should really be using 20130812. Sorry, will try it again with the correct gapps and write back to give results. Sorry guys

goo.im/gapps has a convenient table at the top of the page. It says CM 10.1 is android 4.2, also known as jb-mr1.

I've got the right gapps now, problem solved. Gonna run this on my phone for a while and see how it goes. Thanks. Sorry about the confusion on my part. I must be losing my mind. Like I said, I asked about gapps earlier in the thread. Don't know where my mind was.
Seems to be running smoothly, shutdown is fast, so is boot, installed JD gonna see how long the battery lasts. Thanks to all
 
Neph is supposed to be talking to the CDMA guy but I haven't heard anything in a couple days. Neph, any updates?

Got AOSP 4.3 up and running on the VS920. The only issues seem to be (1) GPS isn't turning on, and (2) LTE is probably broken just as in CM 10.2. Of course LTE can be worked around. So when I get GPS working, I'll post a ROM. Hopefully that won't be too hard to fix.
 
CDMA is broken on all 4.3 CM releases. It's being worked on, but it's not something that is going to be a quick fix. He mentioned something about a toggle being used by most people, but didn't elaborate on that. For now, we just get to continue our dirty flash method.
 
I think GPS is fixed in my AOSP ROM. I'll need to do a full clean build and test but confidence is high. Expect a new pure AOSP 4.3 ROM thread tomorrow. :D

My AOSP ROM is intended to be a pure experience. But, as I intend to use it as my daily, I will also make an "AOSP plus" version with some useful features picked from other ROMs. I won't do anything too intrusive (halo, ribbons) -- I'll limit features to small-ish useful things. So start thinking about what you like and get the requests ready for the new thread. :) Right off the bat I'm going to be tossing in:

* theme manager
* custom dpi
* install persistence for /etc/hosts and gapps
* power menu customization
* fast toggle
* probably some tile customizations if they aren't too intrusive.
