Root CM 10.1 + received mms appear as slideshow - can't view

I'm running on 10.1 5/10 release from IRC. Having issues with the messaging app receiving MMS pics. I'm guessing it thinks the pictures are a slideshow because there's a gray box with a play button in it. This may or may not be because the pic also has text within it, can't tell. When I click the button to view the pic I can see the image blink for an instant then disappear. It's really annoying because I keep pressing and nothing happens but then I'll get a quick blink of the image randomly and it disappears again. Basically, I can't view pics that are texted to me. Is there a way to fix this?

Over at xda I can only find references to mms not sending at all. I can send just fine and receive, but can't view what's received! Can't post at XDA cause I have 1 post!

gosh i have not been on cm10 since i found pacman. have you tried other aosp roms like pacman or carbon? i'm not really sure about your issue other then the standard wipe of dalvik cache, and cache. or you can even try and wipe dalvik cache, cache and re-flash the rom.
 
Well I did a little testing last night and found that my issue is only with group mms. They come through with the play button and I can't view them because they crash or disappear.

As for the AOSPs, this is my first one! I sort of like it but if there's others that are comparable and more stable I wouldn't mind giving them a whirl.

Another thing that's irritating is the mail app on this rom will not sync all inbox subfolders for my exchange email account. They're shown within the app itself if I click "show all folders" but the mail for those folders aren't synced unless I click on every folder. The stock JB app had an option to "show email from all folders" which worked for this.

you also have to keep in mind that cm10.1 5/10 is a nightly(i believe). they do have stable versions, but nightlies sometimes will have some bugs and glitches as the cm10 teams continue to work on them.

both carbon and pacman have elements of a few aosp roms cooked into one. both are very stable and have been my dailies at one point. i'd say give those a go and see if the issues are still there.
 
It appears I was wrong again. It happens with any pic (mms) that's sent to me with text in it. The application just doesn't know what to do with it. Happens on CM 10.1, 5/10, and carbon. A pity, I was really liking carbon, but all this aosp stuff seems like a step back. I was constantly finding ways around my troubles but here I find myself wanting to flash viper again....from the exchange "show all emails" issue, this mms issue, being able to stably attach pic from within camera app, etc.. these aosps don't seem worth it.

Guess for me it's back to viper with my laggy proximity sensor issues instead.

I am having the same problem. I can reproduce this bug with the stock messaging app very easily. I am on Carbon Rom (4-28-2013) and s-off. If I go into Gallery, select two pictures, select share, select the stock messaging app, and send the mms message to myself, when I get the message the app won't be able to play it. Nothing happens when you hit play. It's supposed to play it as a slideshow. Using Handcent, however, the mms file is able to be played as a slideshow. Check it out and you'll see. There's definitely a bug with the stock messaging app and this ROM.

FWIW, I get the error anytime a picture is sent with text in it. I haven't been sent an actual "slideshow" yet. If the picture is sent without text, I can view it just fine within the thread and also by clicking on it to launch a full screen.

Perhaps I'll give it a whirl again with handcent.

My exchange email issue is resolved by reverting back to touchdown but I'd rather use the stock email app.

Don't guess it's possible to use the "stock" email app in Carbon huh?
 
most likely not. you can try them if you like, can't guarantee anything and make sure you have made a nandroid backup before doing so. i would use tb for something like this.
