Root CM 10 Boot Loop :(

Most things are very device specific, so I believe the user is suggesting that you post a new thread in your device forum so others with the same phone as you can help

Yes, thanks Rxpert83. This forum you posted in is only for people who have the HTC One S (look at the top where it says " Android Forums > Android Phones > HTC One S ")

The link I posted will take you to the forum for your phone.

I've tried the following and was boot looped too :
1 - wipe data+cache+dalvik-cache
2 - install ZIP
3 - flash boot.img (taken from ZIP)
4 - reboot

if it matters it is unofficial port for my huawei u8160
Like the others have said, it would be best to check in your specific device section. I know virtually nothing about that specific device so it's better to ask the folks who know more. ;)

The guys over in the rooting thread for your phone could probably help you better. Try posting the question here --> 845 - All Things Root - Android Forums
Thanks for the link.

Hello,

I unlocked my HOS today. No problem.
Installed TWRP ... success.
Installed SU. No problem. At this point I played with the phone for a few hours.

Then I flashed CM 10 and I am stuck in a boot loop.

I cleared the cache, dalvik, and system before I flashed the ville package. I did a MD5 check too. I tried reflashing and still boot loop. It really is a beautiful boot animation, but I want to play with CM 10. Any suggestions to help?

Same problem, I can adb shell in, run su and see stuff running with PS, but all I get on the handset is a CM stargate like spinning graphic.

Any thoughts on what I missed?

I see comments about flashing boot.img by hand, where do I get the file from and what's the correct adb command to flash it?

TIA

Did you do a proper wipe?

It's either a bad download, a bad wipe process, or you need to fastboot flash the boot.IMG

I edited the OP. Here is what you have to do. (Most of us are having problems because are Hboot is too high.)

1 Download CM10 - CyanogenMod Downloads
2 Download Gapps - Goo.im Downloads - Browsing gapps
3 Wipe (cache, dalvik, system)
4 flash rom from recovery
5 flash gapps from recovery
6 "fastboot flash boot boot.img" from command prompt in the folder you have adb. You get the boot.img from the Rom zip

That should do it.

Tried all of the above same issue, looping...what am i missing here?

Wait Im unlocked but still S-on

Well... i don't think that there are 1% S-Off HOS's right now [there is a method to get S-Off]... you will have to manually flash the BOOT.img found in the CM10.x ROM !
Install ROM+gApps > Reboot > !Note that 1st boot may take some time! > Don't panic !

Your instructions here worked to a "T" for the initial booting (CM10.0). However, after re-installing apps via Titanium backup it suggested I reboot to fully complete restore. That's when I got caught in a boot loop again (at the cyanogenmod looping circle boot screen). I tried flashing the same boot.img again but no luck. So now I repeated this whole process with CM10.1 and got on following the instructions here. Now I'm afraid to reboot thinking I'll never get back without wiping everything.

Anybody else have this problem? My hboot is 2.15.

Try rebooting after you install the ROM and reboot and install the GAPPS+clear cache or..
Try another ROM.
