Root CM 7.0 Nightlies

Thanks, I was looking for Gapps love in all the wrong places :D

It's been awhile since I flashed CM, so the procedure is?

Boot into ClockworkMod Recovery
Wipe all partitions (data, cache, system & boot)
Install zip from SD card and install CM Nightly 34, then immediately
Install zip from SD card and install Gapps 1/20
Reboot

Is that about right?
You can tell I'm overly cautious when it comes to my beloved Droid

Chief,

I agree that waiting for UD final is getting painful. I have since reverted back to 2.5 since it is so stable.

As for that procedure, it sounds like it would work. I haven't flashed Cyan before and am strongly considering it right now. From what I have heard, it sounds like it is basically a fully functional almost completely stable gingerbread rom. I was contemplating how to install it and think that that is how I will do it. I would assume that booting before installing gapps could possibly create more problems than not.

Yeah, but I need to KNOW it's the right procedure. I mean, it's a CM7 nightly thread! How did you people flash it, if not via the procedure above?

Inquiring minds want to know :D

That is the correct procedure. :)

I just flashed using the procedure you outlined. It worked just fine. Waiting for google to restore my apps and then I will restore my settings. I decided to try something different this time. I cut/pasted my TiBU from the UD 3.0.0 nightly and put it into a different folder. When I restore my backup, I am going to restore from that instead of the froyo backup. I read (somewhere) that restoring settings from froyo to gb has been creating problems.

Wish me luck.

FYI... it is much easier to keep up with the nightlies using Rom Manger and registering the rom. You get notifications when the latest is available and it downloads the rom and gapps. When finished downloading hit yes and it does everything for you...just my 2 cents that no one asked for ;o)

While Rom Manager makes things more simple, I find it takes much longer to download the ROM for whatever reason. So I just have the nightlies page bookmarked in my browser and download it that way. Much faster. And us nightly junkies need our fix NOW! :D

Hey there, folks, I flashed per the procedure above, everything downloaded again but I have NO home button - it doesn't work! So I'm staring at the Market and am unable to get out of it. I wiped data/cache 3 times, installed the ROM and the Gapps. Home button does nothing.

Any suggestions before I nandroid restore back to my old ROM?

Several of the GB ROMs that I've tried does this to my phone. I have yet to figure out what caused it, or how to fix it. CM7 ROMs have never done this to my DROID however ... go figure. Sorry I can't be more help. :o

I didn't have any problems with my home button. However, my 3G doesn't turn green. I have a data connection, but the icon doesn't turn green at all. Also, my market opens for a few seconds and then closes. It doesn't even FC, but instead, just goes right back to my home screen.

Other than that, I don't see any other issues. I have reverted back to my previous ROM because the nightly still isn't quite right.

As for the home button, did you try rebooting at all?

I'm liking these so far, but have a few bugs. First, my google talk fails to authenticate. Second, my 3G doesn't turn green even though I have 3G data connections. Any ideas?

36 is out allready!

sorry,i have no input on your issues. i dont use google talk and my 3g is green...

Maybe 36'll fix my Car Home, which I don't have when I put the phone in the car dock. GPS Navigation works from shortcuts, but no Car Home.

We'll see...

i downloaded the new car home app from peter alfonso's site. its working fine for me in 36(and has been in past versions),tho i dont have a car dock so i cant say for sure that it would come up when i snapped it in.

That's ENOUGH already!!!

OK, so I love these CM7 nightlies. They just simply work on my DROID. And each night/morning, I am presented with yet another gift of a new ROM to simply d/l and flash right over top the last nightly and away I go. Awesome! Love these ROMs. Love this dev!!!

So why the hell do I keep trying other GB ROMs only to be disappointed with every single one of them?!?! :(

Well, no more!!! I'm done searching! ;)

Brother, I couldn't agree more. When I had my OG, I whored myself big time, flashing everything that would run on it. CyanogenMod was by far my favorite once I flashed it, and like you, was the one I always came back to each time I strayed.

Before CM, I was a BB loyalist, but running BB always kept my OG running hot and led to bootloops. Never had that with CM.

As you can see, I went to the Incredible in December (bought from eBay) to tide me over until right about now. Popped in over here to see how CM7 was working out for the Droid (my daughter is using the old OG with CM6.1, and may go ahead and flash CM7 for her), and am pleased to see that people love CM7 as much as the Dinc folks do over at my new hangout...;)

Anyways, I haven't flashed anything but CM (started out with 6.1) on my Dinc, and won't put anything else on it. The thing that does surprise me is that some people in the Dinc community actually like Sense UI, which amazes me, because I tried it, hated it, and fell in love all over again with CM.

Great seeing all these familiar faces... errr, avatars!
