Root CM Roms and Square Card Reader

Is there a CM7 ROM that works with a Square credit card reader? I've scoured forums and Google, and all I've found is that the readers used to work in CM7 prior to roughly January 2012.

I tried an old version of Harmonia 2 from 8.22.11, but it wouldn't even finish flashing--I think because my phone is the newer OV. I tried Harmonia 2.08 and 2.09, and the latest BobzHome for OV. Currently running Harmonia 1.09, Froyo, because I must have Square functionality.

But I'd really like a Gingerbread ROM.
 
If you do find one that works (you might have to try them all), let me know and I'll see if I can get the information put in the All Things Root Guide sticky in the All things Root sub-forum where this thread needs to be.
 
What doesn't work? I'm on backside currently, but looking to switch... the app installs and runs fine, I plug in the reader and where u learn to swipe, those work fine. I just got it and haven't done a real transaction on it though. Just wondering what doesn't work about it with cm7 roms
 
I might have to try backside. If the tutorial worked for you, then the app might work in earnest.

On the CM7s I tried, the app installed fine, but when you plug in the reader, instead of displaying 'Swipe card to charge' on the left side, above the numeric pad, it displayed a red card-reader icon. It failed to read swiped cards, sometimes displaying the 'swipe faster' message, sometimes not. On the tutorial, it totally failed to recognize that I was swiping a card. On harmonia 1, the app works like stock. Which is funny, as harmonia 1 is 2.2.1, and the square app is only supposed to work for 2.2.2 and up.

Let me know if you get a chance to run a card for real. If backside supports the app, then I'll be interested in switching. Which build are you running?
 
It also seems to work on Gingersnap 2.3.8 found on android central. I just tried it and it recognized the reader and trial swipes worked fine. It takes a few swipes to get it to read, but that seems to be common among the readers.
 
Not sure it's completely a rom thing. I have a square reader I use at work and it will not work on my new work phone which is an LG Viper 4g (Stock) nor would it work on my old Optimus Elite (Stock or Custom Rom). Works like a charm on my HTC One V (AOKP) and my bosses Nexus (Stock)

Seems like something with the lg phones doesn't always like the square reader. Just an Observation
 
That might be part of it, but before I rooted my phone I used the card reader for about six months. After rooting and flashing, I had the problems I listed above. Works fine now, but I'm not wild about the ROM I'm on. Battery and stability issues, mainly.
