Root CM10 progress Update Thread

I have identified the wifi problem, still working on solution. Still looking for reason the modem firmware isn't loading, logcat doesn't help me with that one, unless its my lack of experience with logcat. Not a lot to reference from online. Solutions that worked for similar devices don't work for ours. I have synced the caf repo for msm8960 to see if it will help me track some things down. Basically, I'm doing a lot of trial and error stuff for remaining issues.

Have you tried both logcat and dmesg ?
I found this, I'm not sure if it'll be helpful and if it's against TOS, I aplogize for linking offsite. How to get logcat and dmesg outputs for trouble shooting !

dalvik explorer will let you get a good look into the file systems if someone downloaded that app. then they could check out any needed files on the rooted working and compare with the cm10 build. don't know if that'll help but its a little less overwhelming than running logcats.

Its the sound of progress being made.

Have faith. They're just figuring out some bugs with the build that seem to be a little challenging. Lol

Fixed video and overlays. Still working on wifi and data.

I think the reason why the wifi and data isn't working is because of the kernel which Android OS depends on in order to boot specific files and components in the device's hardware. And I recently found out from totlth's roms that the kernel from the cm10tester has a smaller file size than the one on the slimm+ rom so there could be some things missing that may need to be added to the kernel in order enable the wifi and data. But what do I know, I'm just a teenager who's already started learning about this kind of stuff so I could be wrong about this:D

Actually that makes perfect sense, it's to the same extent of what Shabby had told me before about files missing from kernel and it needing to be re-compiled with them added. He also mentioned it could be build prop or just missing files. But, I think you're on the money with it missing from the kernel. I'm assuming if the stock roms data libs are larger in size then this kernel has the wrong ones it's trying to call 'causin it to not work. Hopefully totlth will figure it out.

The boot.img and the kernel are not the same thing. The kernel is inside the boot.img. I have tried using the stock kernel in it but it doesn't work either. The problem with wifi is in the configuration in the build. I haven't gotten it right yet. The data is another story.

If you wanna see what I'm talking about, get the android kitchen from xda and start splitting images. Its a good tool with other functions as well. That's how I started learning this stuff.

Thanx for looking into it. Any help is appreciated.

You guys are just speaking a foreign language. I'm just hanging around here waiting you smart dudes to figure it out. Can you feel the positive vibes I'm sending your way?

Good luck!

Just curious, is there any chance this ROM might include the Halo notification thing? From what I have seen that would be a killer addition to any ROM.

That's actually pretty interesting. Thanks for sharing that one.

Seems like something like that would be more for higher end phones with all the transparencies and such though. I don't know how well that would work on our phone. Perhaps we have a topic worth opening a new thread for?

I though this was phone was comparable to an S3 in specs, so why not....? From what I have read or is part of the Paranoid Android ROM's

A big thank you in advance Totlth for all your hard work and countless hours of dedication to make this happen. Also thanks to all those who helped you work out the kinks. :)

Will this have actionable notifications? I hate having to get out of Ingress every time I get a text I need to reply to?
