Root CM7 build 148 sound problems ...

splash104

Well-Known Member
I just flashed CM7 build 148 which is the latest but the overall sound seems very weak same as it was on Froyo 2.2
Any way to rectify this problem? Cheers

Could that kernel be used with ARHD? Always looking for better battery life and stuff! Seen that kernel about before :)

Nah, it's only for AOSP ROMs.

Some of the devs offer their kernels as seperate downloads though. I'm not sure what effect it would have using the ARHD kernel on the LeeDroid ROM etc.

Done with the kernel flashing and does show overall sound improvements :)

How do I use the settings in: Cyanogenmod settings>performance>CPU settings and try to speed up the CPU speed? What does the 'min CPU speed' and 'max CPU speed' actually do and how SAFELY can I up the speed at both options to?

Glad it sorted the sound for you.

If you leave your Governor as Brazillianwax, just leave the CPU Settings as is. The default max (1075) is fine for pretty much all you'll ever need. Even at that speed it's much slicker than stock/some other ROMs.

It's probably safe to go to circa 1500 max, but not for any sustained period of time. If you do decide to overclock permanently, anything around 1200 should be fine.

The max CPU frequency options I see are 1152 then 1228 after the default 1075 on Brazillianwax (+1 for the name btw!), so can I permanently choose 1228?

It should go all the way up to 2016 or something, the list is scrollable. I wouldn't try it though.

1225 should be relatively safe to run at constantly, it will only ever really run at that speed when it needs to. :)

Thanx mate will have a go at 1228 then ;)... what process/app can cause it to run at that max 1228 frequency?

Just ran Quadrant test with CPU @ 1228 max. The result was 2366 beating my previous record @ 1075 of 2266 so yup you were right about benchmark apps. Linpack showed 46.3 MFLOPS but not sure what it really means and how is this score of 46.3 rated as

As for the safety of overclocking, the danger comes from heat, as overclocked processors run warmer. Your phone would hopefully shut off before any serious damage was done, but it's still something to be wary of.

The battery is probably the most heat vulnerable component, although don't quote me on that.

I did run my old phone with the max speed at 150ish% speed all the time though and I lived :p (got me a whopping great 4.8 on the linpak test).
