Root CM7 (non nightly)

Hi All

Could you do me a favour and point me to the direct download for the lastest (Non nightly) version of CM7 please?

And could you please tell me whether I need to install a different radio. I installed the Leedroid radio last week sometime.

I've had a look for the download myself, but I could only find the update file which comes in at about 80 meg or so.

Cheers

You can download CM7 from within ROM Manager. If you want to download externally, the update file is the correct one and can be found here: [OFFICIAL] CyanogenMod 7 for the HTC Desire HD :: V7.0.3 (5 May 2011) - CyanogenMod Forum

You'll need to download the gapps zip too.

It's only about 80MB as it doesn't have the google stuff installed and Sense takes up quite a lot of space.

Your radio should be fine too, I've been using the LeeDroid recommended radio with it with no issues.

Well what do ya know. Ya learn something new everyday :)

Its downloading now. When it is done, do I just go through the normal procedure of wiping the ROM I have installed already? Or do I need to download other files too?

Thanks

I can understand the confusion with the naming convention and size of the file, it puzzled me at first too.

Yeah, wipe the ROM you had installed already, backing up before hand. Then just install the update-cm-7.0.3-DesireHD zip from within CWM, go back to clockworks main screen, and do the same with the gapps-gb-20110307 zip (obviously minus the wipe).

Do you have all your existing user apps + data backed up with titanium?

Yeah, I sussed that one out the other day. What a great phone. I didn't realise it could do so much.

Just going to try this ROM and then weigh up all the pros and cons with the others I have tried.

Btw, I have seen some great 3d Themes for CM7, but I cant find a trial version of the Theme Chooser app. As silly as it sounds, I dont have a debit card :(

Thanks El Presidente

Heh, at one point, I didn't have one for ages either, so I feel your pain. Theme chooser is pre installed with CM7 though :)

There are 3d themes out there, but they wouldn't work with me. When I selected them, they told me they weren't optimised for my screen size. I tried anyway and whilst they looked nice, I couldn't open the market.

You can make your own theme here, but it won't let you customise the look of the google apps like the market/gmail etc as far as I can see. I've only made a few myself but not really spent any length of time messing about with it so I'm not entirely sure of it's full capabilities. When I finish this set of shifts, I'll probably have a mess about with it.

Cool.

I've backed everything up so now I'm going to flash the new ROM.

Catch ya later mate

Unless you're talking about something I'm unfamiliar with (like 3D themes), the theme chooser app is free and comes preinstalled with CM7.

Hi Guys

I've decided to revert back to the Leedroid Rom. I didn't like CM7. The lack of sense disagreed with me :(

Thanks for your input anyway :)

Wiggo

Edit: It should read "I find your lack of Sense disturbing"

If you go in to ROM Manager, there appears to be a new CM7...

CyanogenMod 7.1.0-RC1 (release candidate)...
