Hey Guys, Not sure if I'm a late bloomer with TG's CM7 but I swapped over to CM7 last night and wanted to post some information. First, thank you very much TG, it's awesome so far.
1. Battery: Battery life is amazing on CM7 compared to stock. I unplug my phone at 9am and usually by now 5pm central I will have less than 50% and I am not a heavy user. It is 5:03pm and I am still at 70% and I have been fooling around with the GPS today. I use Batterytime from the market to monitor battery life.
2. GPS: I will update if it turns out different but for now, the GPS issue looks to be fixed or at least vastly improved. It only took 30 seconds to get a lock. I used GPS Test to check how long it took to get sats.
-EDIT- Still having issues with my GPS so I'm going to write it off as my phone failing since I haven't heard any new updates from anyone about the GPS not working. I need to get my phone exchanged.
3. Ease: It couldn't have been easier to swap over to CM7 if you follow all the steps. I used Titanium backup so everything from data to apps got saved and I have restored some of them. Also make a Nandroid backup before you do it as it says. There are also Youtube videos on CM7 and Nandroid if you don't feel comfortable.
It took probably no more than 15 minutes from installing CM7 in clockwork, installing gapps, loading CM7 and getting my contacts, apps, Google account restored.
Speed: Holy cow the MT is faster with CM7 or at least it seems. Apps install so fast and open quicker. The phone also seems to run smoother and the screen also seems to be more colorful but that could just be me.
4. Overall: I have only been using CM7 since last night but so far it has been amazing and a significant improvement over the stock Rom. The main reason I switched was to fix the GPS issue and so far it is fixed if not greatly improved.
Apologies if I'm the last person to swap over to CM7 and these benefits are old news but figured I would share just in case
Cheers,
~Novak
