Root CM7 problems!

I am.currently using warm z two point two and i just tried to flash CM7 but it will only work if I don't flash gapps. Once i do that it throws me into a boot loop, it at farthest gets to the touch the android screen and nothing happens if I touch it and it reboots. When I clear my dalvik cache in CWM it says something along the lines of E: (then some letters) and like file exists. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I want to go back to Cyanogenmod but CM7 won't work. :(

Thanks ahead of time.

It says 3.0.0.8 or something close to that in RM but when I go into CWM I wanna say it says something like 2.5?? And yea I do a full wipe even the factory one.

reflash clockwork a bunch of times with rom manager, check the option in the settings to "erase recovery".

you can't flash CM7 without 3.0.0.8. clockwork recovery should appear with orange text.

Ok thank you so much for the responses and how would I reflash Clockwork? And would erasing the recovery delete all of my backups amd how do i check the option?

Thanks again.

When in the rom manager app, hit the menu button, hit settings, the 6th option from the top is to erase recovery. it won't delete any of your backups.

the option to reflash clockwork is in rom manager, it's the top option when you first open the app. do it a bunch of times( 5 or 6 at least)

Ok thank you and I did everything you said but it still goes into a boot loop. It almost makes it and sometimes does to the lockscreen but only for a second then makes a beep beep beep then reboots.

I just redid everything and tried flashing without google apps but it still boot loops but made it to the touch the android screen and then reboots. :(

Yes I did it I just cant get it to work.

so you have clockwork 3.0.0.8 when you boot into recovery?

if so... when in recovery, select the option for factory reset, do that a couple times, wipe cache a couple times, go to advanced and wipe dalvik a couple times. then do a factory reset again, and wipe cache again.

then install cm7, then gapps, and boot

if that doesn't work, redownload the rom and gapps again. and retry the steps above. Also where did you download google apps from? there is one specifically for cm7.

I actually just kept rewiping everything and reflashing the rom and instead of clicking reboot now, I hit power down then turned it on manually and it worked. :) but I didn't try flashing gapps. I'm also not sure if I have the gapps specifically for CM7, do you know where I could download it?

Thank you so much for your help so far!

Just download the google apps from the market; I've been running CM7 for a while, and I don't even bother flashing gapps when I install a new version.

you mean from rom manger? You won't have access to the market without it. It's only necessary to flash after wiping your data on a fresh install, which he is doing.

I prefer not to use rom manager to download anything, way to buggy in my experience and is the cause behind many people's rom woes.

Odd because I always have market on my phone even if gapps isn't flashed (I always do a clean install even when upgrading from CM nightlies).

yeah, you're right, you'll have the market, but not all apps show up in the market, and I believe some of the apps won't work correctly... at least that is my experience with CM7 and what I've gathered from reading other's posts. Unless koush has changed something with the nightlies, but last I heard he isn't allowed to include google apps in his roms, hence the reason he provides the separate download.

What I meant was that I use the market to get all of the google apps. None of them have any problems.
