Root Cm7 rc2

Nice ROM, but neither wifi nor bluetooth worked. All of my apps were OK except Talk to Me (Cloud), a language translation app. I especially liked the simulated CRT turning off. Clever!

I have gone back to 6.1.2 until the next RC or stable rom is released. (I am just not intrepid enough to try nightly builds!) I am really pleased with CM on the whole, and have stayed with it since 5.0.7.2. and I am so appreciative of the developers who devote so much time, energy, and attention to it. Without them, Android would only be good, but not awesome! My hat is off the them all.:)

Alright you guys after everybody said their wifi works I decided to try it again. For what ever reason wifi is now working fine but still no bluetooth. I guess I can survive without it for a little while; hopefully the next release will have it working again for me. Im trying to contact the developer of the talk to me cloud app that I like so much that it is fc'ing; hopefully he can modify it so it works with gingerbread. Everything else still seems to be working very well so I guess I'll stick with it. If anyone else has bluetooth problems I'd like to hear about to here especially if someone knows how to get it working again. Thanks everybody.

Did you by any chance use TB to restore system apps? Also maybe try fix permissions.
They are both working good for me.

I did use TB, but only to recover the data for a few apps. I tried the fix permissions, no joy. Still no BT. Phone says paired not connected. Car (BMW) doesn't see it. If I switch back to 6.1.2 it connects immediately so I think I can safely assume the car is not at fault, but I have no other device to try. I drove about 30 miles today, and it never connected.

Are you trying to BT audio or phone?

My phone BT connection is working in my Highlander, but audio won't connect. (paired but not connected.) Car says conneting, then connected, but there is no connection now matter how many times I try.

My wife has and Dinc as well with stock rom and BT audio and phone are working. And both worked for me on CM6

After upgrading to this my market places has vanished.

Any idea as to how I can download applications?
Is is just Market or all Gapps? I have to reinstall Gapps everytime I flash this ROM. Either way, that is what I would try if I were you; reflash the latest Gapps.

I have had problems with apps installing on their own when I start with a blank slate with the nightlies pretty consistently, including this RC. Market still sees my apps as installed even though they aren't and are not showing up in the app drawer. Reinstalling with TiBu does not make them show up in the app drawer, either.

Everything seems to work great if I reinstall over current data. Anyone else try to install after wiping?

I noticed a change in BT behavior over the course of CM nightly builds a couple weeks ago.
It worked flawlessly for a number of weeks on CM nightly builds, and then suddenly started seeing odd behavior a couple weeks ago (not sure which nightly build was the turning point, unfortunately). I've flashed to the RC now, and it's the same funky BT behavior that was introduced a while back.
In my case BT works okay, but it became really flaky at connecting with my paired car audio headunit; and when it does connect, it rarely updates signal strength indicator and whatnot. In other words, I can get in my car, the phone will sync ~80% of the time, and the "signal strength" display on the headunit will invariably show no signal. This is just a display issue, however, since I can make calls just fine. Phone LCD shows full bars.
Regarding WiFi: mine works great, but I couldn't get Wireless Tethering to work on Chevy's GB kernel. The stock CM kernel works fine though. (only 800MHz OC, but I'll take it)

...snip...

I have tried 2 other kernels, Chevys and JLDFG, but my Droid gets stuck at the M on both. I was hpoing one of them could remedy the BT failure, and run faster, but no luck. And yeah, 800 Mhz is ok with me, for now!!!

Running Chevy's ULow 1GHz GB kernel, wifi, tethering and BT work fine for me. Keeping the speed at 800MHz though to keep battery from being demolished, bump up in needed situations

Ok so I finally had a really weird experience with CM 7 RC2. Last night I was getting force closes when trying to open a couple apps (Angry Birds and Sketch Book Moblie) so I went into ROM Manager and fixed permissions. When it was done I rebooted and everything was fine until I unlocked the screen and got into a force close loop with ADW Ex. Reboot back to recovery and did a restore, tried to do a fix permissions with Root Tools and the same thing happened.

Not sure if this is an ADW issue or a CM 7 issue, but something with fixing permissions is making ADW Ex force close loop.

I am getting lots of FCs from Facebook, stock browser, Dolphin HD, Weather Channel, Gmail, K9 mail, etc, so much so that I am starting to wonder of My Droid is able to run GB, and doubting Android overall. This is increasingly frustrating. Does anyone have an Android phone that is problem-free?

I am too. But isn't this the "aggressive app killing" gingerbread thing I read about in the other cm nightlies thread? I just assumed it was. if I click on the app enough times, eventually it comes up.

Btw, I have about 30MB or slightly less of Ram free as reported by the services option in the application options settings.

I personally don't have any serious issues with my Incredible or Droid 1 running CM7. It may be that your phone just doesn't agree with a particular ROM/kernel configuration or even just the ROM. If you feel that you aren't getting the desired performance, try other ROMs. Despite what would logically make sense, being that all the phones should be able to run the same things the same way, there are some that just can't handle it. Countless times on here have I seen where people haven't been able to overclock to certain speeds, while others on the same phone model can pull it off w/o a problem.
Don't lose faith in Android because of this. Technology is a cruel mistress regardless of what side of the line you stand on. The MotoDroid 1 is almost a year and a half old now, ancient by the standards of such a rapidly-changing and developing platform. I know that may seem like a turn-off, but keep in mind also that this phone was one of the first for the platform, and as the platform starts to plateau with raw processing power; etc., the tech in these current phones is greater, and should have better longevity as far as future-proofing goes.
:D
