Root CM7 Reception Issues

ok...let me atart off by saying that the sense rom is awesome...but I really enjoy using CM7. However, my phone has reeeeeaaalllllyyy crappy reception on all of the CM7 roms where it has awesome service on the sense rom. Does anyone else have this problem, and is there a fix foe this? Any help or input is greatly appreciated. :)
 
Overall service wise. The phone struggles to send a simple text message and downloading from the market is a joke or even getting online at all for that matter. But on the sense rom I can download from the market at record speed and fly through web pages in a flash. I don't get it lol. I can only get one bar of service with cm7 where I would have full bars with the sense rom.

I get 2 bars tops on cm7. That's on cdma prl though. Cdma only goes like crazy and gets me 4 or 6 lol. I know that in suburban areas or places where there aren't many towers you get bad service. Like some huge park near my home, its only 6 streets away. Once I'm there I lose service for the next 50 more streets of walking. But Im still able to send texts and all that. Kind of weird if you ask me.
 
I've noticed lately that I've had exceptional service since I've been on prl 3026. Talking full bats on the phone and I can send mms even with only 1 or 2 bars. Before, I wasn't able to do so.
 
It seems Metro has been enabling more towers since the 1st of the month. I was running 3024 and since around 12/1, I was getting 3G in areas that I haven't before. My home area is a dead zone when it comes to service and it kills my phone's battery life because it's constantly going in and out of the service. Since 12/1, it's actually been going in and out of 3G which is a definite surprise. I'll see if 3026 is any different.

Cm7 probably calculates bars dif then sense rom check the dbm to be sure it may just be a placebo effect if not then I have no idea on this matter. Just because you dont have any bars doesn't mean that you dont have service. When you have no service a little x will show up in the bottom left corner of the bars.

How do we read the dBm?
 
Haha sooooo if I was lower than 106 I should have at least one Bar?

nevermind that didn't make since lmao...I get it now. I'll switch back to cm7 and what's up lol
 
Glad I'm not the only one with this issue. Sense ROM consistently gave me at least two bars, but on any of the CM7 ROMS I always show zero bars.

Couldn't tell you the dBm on the Sense ROM, but I seem to hover right around 109-112dBm/0asu with no bars on any CM ROM. Never had my bar reception show a bar unless I leave the Flint area.

Even the new LG update gives me more bars lol
 
But did you ever have trouble sending text messages or browsing? sometimes I felt like my phone was just lying to me lol...like I had good service but it wasn't showing.

No, I've never had troubles sending texts or browsing.

I always got the feeling my phone was lying to me also, as I've always had decent browsing speeds. Call quality is horrible though. I have to stand at a window to be able to hear anything.
 
Yeah same here...I usually just go outside when I can...but I really don't have that good of service where I'm at anyways lol
 
I have the same problem. My SIM card ever since converted to 3G shows less bars on the coverage status. With stock rom, it is hardly one or two bars at best. Yesterday, I upgraded my rom to CM 7.1 stable and practially inside my house, it showed no coverage most of the time. Did read that CM7.1 EAv7.2 improves the range. Any one tried the same?

The reception issue has been sorted once I set my phone to 2G mode. Looks like it was a sepcific days problem
