Root CM7 screen timeout even in games?

I have installed Tickerguy's CM7 on my triumph to see if it helps with the horrid battery life. So far it has at least doubled the battery life. However, I am faced with an odd issue. When playing games like NFS: Shift or any other driving game where you don't have to touch the screen for a while the screen simply times out and I have to hit the lock button, unlock, and then unpause the game. This did not happen on stock. I am also using the OC kernel if that makes a difference. Any ideas? I have looked for settings but don't see anything obvious.

you can go to settings>display>screen timeout and change it to 30mins but thats about all you can do unless you have it hooked up toba charger then you can go into applications>developement and never sleep while chrging...
 
Ahhh so this is something that is known in CM7 (or tickerguy's port of it) or did I just not notice it on the stock ROM?
