Root CM7 + select Metro Apps, doable?

Hi to all, I have a question, maybe to some it's a noob question or maybe it hasn't been asked here before but I haven't seen the 1st thread for it though for this phone.

So here it goes anyway: I was wondering, how would one go about adding a few select Metro Apps (Ex. Metro Navigator, Metrobackup, Metro Appstore) if you already have flashed CM7 ? I rooted via Gingerbreak, have a backup of the stock ROM and using ROM Manager if that background info helps. Any kind of help or directions I would appreciate.

Yep. Use a root explorer to copy the .apk you want to SD card.
After flash move them back to system/apps

Should also add that these apps are available at the Metro App Store, so once they are gone they can be re-downloaded :3

For some reason with me, MetroNavigator won't work with the CM6 Ascend Build from the CM7 M835 Page

What I would suggest is using google to backup your contacts, google maps for navigator. What lil I used the metro apps when I first got my ascend made my mind up about metro apps, they suck.

9 out of 10 times you will be able to find a 3rd party app that will work much better IMO.

The only issue with using Maps for GPS is that I use GPS sometimes for when I go to new places and I only get 1xRTT (which is why I use MetroNavigator for GPS)

i got a problem, i erased my metro aps and installed cm7 for the ascend and my contacts got deleted. i thought i had them synced to my google account, but didnt but i had them backed up to metro back-up so i tried to dowload the app again and it said ur carrier or device is not compatible or something like that.... any suggestions on what i should do?

Have you tried going to and using the online version? Could try logging in (top right hand corner) and see if you can copy your contacts and then put them in your Gmail and then sync your phone to Gmail

i have a problem, i rooted and installed CM7.2 for the Ascend on my M835 and got rid of all the metro apps. i thought i had my contacts synced to my google account, but i guess i didnt haha... but i had them backed up with metro back-up. so i go to re-install metro back-up and it says your device or carrier is not compatible or some shit, so does anyone know what to do or any suggestions? i'd really appreciate it

I didnt know there was an online version of metro backup hahaha.... ya learn something new everyday lol. i'll try that out. thanks
