Root CM7 WiFi and MMS Problems

Newbie
Hello, I tried searching the forums before posting but I wasn't able to find anything. I have CM 7.0.3 and everything works great except that I can't connect with my wifi and I only get about half of my MMS messages. I appreciate any help I can get. Thanks.

I send/receive about 1 MMS/year, so doubt I can help with that one.

As for WiFi, can you give a little more detail? What exactly happens when you try to connect? And have you tried setting up the AP from a clean install (i.e. without restoring your list of access points), to be sure that it's a problem with the ROM rather than an incompatability with restored data?

Hi Hadron, as mentioned in my thread about this i can't get the wifi working either. I have re-flashed the original radio, but this has not solved the issue.
Can you clarify what you mean about clean installing the access points and how i can go about doing this, as i don't really understand what you mean.
I did a titanium backup of all apps and system when i flashed the rom, but since then i have told it to forget my network and then had the re-enter the wifi password, but i still can't connect.
It gets stuck on authenticating network and then after disconnecting and trying again a few times it disables the network. As mentioned its a WPA2 PSK secured network.
More info on my issue is in my post:

Cheers

Hey Hadron, I'm having the same problem Ace is having. It acts like it's trying to connect but then keeps disconnecting and disabling.

SUroot, I went into Titanium and found the wifi access points. It won't let me click on uninstall though. It will only let me Backup, Restore, or Delete

Hi villain36, see the post i referred to above.

I also do not have the uninstall option for Wifi access points in Titanium Backup. I have gone into wifi settings and told it to forget the network. I will then when i return home try and connect to it again.
Have already tried this but is worth another go before trying something more drastic.
Last night i tried rebooting the router, incase it was something on there preventing it, but this did not help.
Turned the router off this morning and will turn it back on when i get home, as this may help.

Next step if those don't work are to perform a factory reset and clear cache and then see if i can reconnect to wifi once rebooted and when nothing else has been restored/added.

Finally if not i may return to the stock RUU for the remainder of the week until i can play further with it at the weekend. I also want to S-OFF and its advised to have stock rom on anway so this should make that process easier.

If you fix it let me know. Cheers, good luck.

You can try manually removing APs from WiFi settings. Not just the one you have trouble with, but others. It was getting rid of a number of rarely used APs that fixed it for me, though I cannot make any promises as (a) I don't know your problem us the same though it sounds similar, and (b) I don't really know whether my problem was conflict with a particular APs settings or just that there were too many and for some reason CM did not cope.

What I do know is that I have no trouble now, when before I got rid of 10 or so APs I could never get a connection to the network I'm currently using.

i have no other remembered APs on the phone atm so it doesn't seem like a conflict. Will report after i've tried the above steps.

OMG i am such a r****d. I've found out why i couldn't get onto the network (you're going to laugh at me), was entering the router password rather than the wifi password. Got it right now and i can access the wifi network fine.

hope you have a eurika moment like this villain!

Your right, i'm laughing. :D:D:D

Uhhhhh......I went in to modify my settings, re-entered my wifi password, and voila! I must've just entered in the password incorrectly as well. Thank you for pointing out the obvious Ace. Thank you everyone for your input and sorry for wasting your time. How embarrassing!

Does anyone have any ideas on the MMS issue? I get the message, but I have to push a download button in order to open the media. Only about half of them actually download and open, the other half don't do anything.

Pretty much all 3 of the mms I've received, I've had to download. Anyone who sends images to me has a smartphone so they email me. Can't help there
