Root CM9 {Speculation}

Would you rather have CM7.2 (GingerBread) or CM9 (ICS)

I remember the same things being said about the HTC Hero CDMA going from 1.6 to Eclair and then from 2.1 to Froyo. And after I changed phones, from 2.2 to 2.3. Now ICS is in the works and they have most of the functions working. The HTC hero is older by a few years, has a slower processor speed, and probably a weaker GPU. I don't buy into these analogies. They almost seem automatic.

Just cause it can be done don't mean it should. I have a htc hero also that the kids use to play games. froyo works great if you have jit disabled. Jit was one of the key features of froyo.

GB ran like shit all together even worth jit disabled n I haven't seen a build with working hw acceleration witch was a, key feature of gingerbread. I couldn't imagine how bad ics is gonna run.

My point is what's the point of having the newest greatest os if you can't utilize all the new features. You disable who'll the new goodies in ics to work on the admire your just gonna have a prettier looking GB. You like the look of ics over gingerbread use the ics theme

I thought Froyo ran far better than the officially released Eclair for the Hero. HW accleration would come down to devs to implement it I believe unless there was a specific reason why the Hero couldn't support it. Openfimg can be used with the Admire at least. The dev of the Samsung Intercept's 2.3 ROM which is now in the works just incorporated it and has it working although it's only as good as tom3q has made it thus far. The Hero only had 288 MB of RAM, 528 MHz CPU, and probably some weak GPU that came along with the qualcomm chipset. The Admire has 512 MB RAM, an 800 MHz CPU(maybe to be overclocked if a kernel is made), and a decent dedicated GPU. I think with working HW Acceleration, CM9 will at least run as well as Eclair did back on my Hero which was decent if not better. And if not, then an AOSP ICS release will. I may be wrong but I would definitely donate to the dev who tries once I do get an Admire.

the admire can handle ics... I put money on it... I have ran an alpha version of cm9 on my prevail.. with an over clocked kernel implementation...so it's very very possible ..and the admire has basically same CPU as prevail. :p

cm9 would just be a little too slow for me. I mean im sure it would probably run, just not very well, and i need my phone to be snappy thats why i love reqs port of cm7.

That's because req's port is an OFFICIAL port, not a based port. That's why I thank him like 150 million times :D

I can vouch for lord Vincent .. it works a little glitchy but it dies indeed work :) I am half tempted to try installing it again just for fun :p

I understand what you mean. In a sense, it's more like running a PC built for Windows 6/Vista but using 7 on it. It's gonna work but eh.

I cant get over seeing this...it makes me facepalm on so many levels...

you do know windows 7 runs faster than vista even on comparable hardware right...

its more like running a computer built for xp and sticking 7 on it...nope actually it still runs rather fast on that....

windows 7 was actually done right...

if your going to make a windows analogy you might as well say its like running windows ME. period...full stop.

Mystery, I am going to post a picture tomm that is a great example of what it means to put CM9 on Admire. There is a car I past by everyday that shouldn't have something on it that it does. I agree with you that CM7.2 is the best thing this phone should use.

Excuse me for a misnomer. Jeez. I could've made a better analogy but I have more important things to do with my life.
