c'mon man

Don't know that 97% that voted for him in 08 has seen that he did nothing for them. Doubt the voting will be the same. After all can't use the running as the first black president no more. He will have to come up with a new gimmic. Oh wait he is half white. So guess he wasn't the first African American president lol.

Yikes! Well if you knew how overwhelmingly Democratic DC is, you'd get it. BTW, the city is getting less and less black by the second

Yeah just like Massachusetts is a strong dem state and when Teds seat came up a republican got it. I am seeing more and more people are not either strong dem or republican. They are looking for who will do the best job.

I don't know.. the fallout would likely fertilize the ground downwind with some sort of mutant, fungal greed spores. Then we'd have to deal with environmentalists wanting us to prove the spores are more noxious than they are.

It's a vicious cycle. :D

yeah that would be just the luck to then we would have to kill another entire race of idiots. I guess it would never stop so instead I say we have option C put into place.

Option C = When we find that neither Candidate is qualified and we choose "C" We then tell them loosers thanks for wasting our time and start all over until we do find someone who is actually a)qualified, b) a US Citizen, c) someone who is Patriotic. - Poorly Paraphrased but Originally suggested by the late Great George Carlin.

I have used that as my sig on many forums for years!

I've been saying it for years. "Sigh" people don't want the truth they want their illusion.

Eh, I grew up in Massachusetts. I think though the people there are a liberal voting bloc, they're quite conservative on moral issues (strong religious group).
DC is pretty similar, though changing rapidly as the OGs are getting priced out of the city and replaced with younger, whiter, less traditional (much more socially liberal) groups. Hell, we were even dumb enough to vote for Marion Barry, multiple times! But, I can't see Obama getting anything less than 90% of the vote this year. (Kerry got just north of 90% in 04)

I always found the Kennedy family to be interesting, in that they're Catholic but pro-choice.

'Nother thread, I know, but the segue into this topic is that many people have morals which transcend the center teachings of their church, such as Romney's Obama-like "Romney-care" package, spawned by the exact same advisers that came up with Obama-care, and Obama-care being opposed by the Church of Latter Day Saints as "socialism."

Maybe Romney addresses that from his yacht. :D

They go where the money is. Would you rather waste your time at a yacht club and get tens of thousands dollars or at a local mall and get like $20 donations? Campaigns are not won on good speeches alone. You need the capital to fuel that train.
Yes, but couldn't he and the others also goto the local mall and collect those $20? After all, he want our votes too.

Does the OP seriously think that only Romney does these things? If you're a politician and you need money, and influencial support, this is what you do.

The only way to end this kind of thing is legal limits on campaign spending, along with government funding of political parties.

No, i realize that Romney is just a "figure head" in the battle for power. It is not who can best serve the USA, it is all about who can beat Obama or who ever is in the White House and is the opposing party at the time. Kinda sad that both parties care much more about "power" than the old USA............:(

I really think the election results to watch will be the Congress and Senate. With only a 10% approval rating, it should be very interesting what the people do..............if they even go to the polls

Yep, this will be key. While I think Obama will likely get reelected (seriously can the Repubs pick 1 candidate they all like?), there will probably be some big changes in Congress. Curious how the Tea Party movement will be after the support they had in 2010?

Agree........ the "tea party" was the first movement. Have no idea what they will be called but i do see more and more change on the horizon. We desperately need to change Washington. It really has less to do with "republicans and democrats" and more to do with Washington itself. They should be there to help us............not themselves.

Agreed, and give some friggin statehood while you're at it! :p

It's certainly not about who's best for the coutry, mind you it seems that the Republican electorate don't care either, a disgrace on their part. Look at say Santorum compared to Huntsman.

We saw what the last change produced, a bunch of idiots who have no idea what it takes to help run a federal government. I'd worry the next elections will do the same for the other half.

As I said, the last change made Washington worse... dont be surprised when things dont improve.

I've always found the topic of whether federal capitals should get statehood. Its interesting how existing cities are always given statehood even as a federal capital - while newly created cities aren't in general. Dont really have an opinion on the matter, maybe ye could get further autonomy and one senator and repersentative?

you prefer he try to raise campaign funds at the portland Salvation Army?

this is what candidates do....... they hold fundraisers at fancy places........ you cant name a single serious presidential candidate in the last 100 years who hasnt given a fundraising speech at some yacht club or country club or other private ritzy location ........ this somehow shocks or dismays you?

And have a look at what many Obama fundraisers cost. Not uncommon to spend almost $40,000.000 for a ticket. The OP needs to understand that a politician goes where the cash is.

I always found the Kennedy family to be interesting, in that they're Catholic but pro-choice.

Certainly Joe Kennedy and his stock manipulations and bootlegging business would make a great HBO series. Not much to recommend many in the Kennedy Clan for "American of the Year."

Ehhh.. what he did back then would be small potatoes now days.

Sadly true. Many Americans seem to forgive far too much these days. Obama had avowed communists working for him; if the public will accept that, they will accept anything.

It is interesting to note that many if not most Americans did not know Franklin Roosevelt was in a wheelchair. The press behaved differently back then and they had some measure of respect for the man and the office.

A presidential candidate in a wheelchair might not be elected these days.

LOL . . . TYPO. Forty Grand, not million. That said, 40 million is probably what he spends on vacations. Michelle Obama sas spent ten million alone, traveling.

That was still 40K, just in wholesale parlance. We buy stuff all the time that is priced in 1/1000 of a cent like $4.725.

I now return you to the regularly scheduled thread.
